Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Middle Fork State Fish & Wildlife Area adventure.
Get out on the water for fishing, canoeing, and wildlife viewing
With 2,700 acres of land, Middle Fork has plenty of space for outdoor adventure. Start with the basics: camping, canoeing, hiking, and fishing. The park’s also great for archery, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and hunting.
This huge area is named for the Middle Fork Branch of the Vermillion River. Explore the shoreline by boat, or hike over 35 miles of trails. Ready for target practice? Bust out your bow and arrows on the archery trail and try trap shooting.
The river is the star of the show. A canoe trip is a great way to experience the peaceful water. At Kickapoo State Park, there’s a convenient canoe take-out point. You’ll also find family activities, including picnicking and horseback riding.
Bringing a tent or RV? The state park is your best bet — it has showers and hookups. Inside the recreation area, there are horse camping facilities.
