Piney Hills Campground

17 sites · RVs, Tents106 acres · Mauk, GA
We purchased this property to have a homestead and a place to get away from the stress and demands of city life. We have over 100 acres here and lots of animals on our farm that you can see and visit from the campground. We also have hiking trails through approximately 80 acres in the back of the property with steep hills and ravines to hike or bring your mountain bikes! It’s very quiet here except for the sounds of the farm animals and roosters crowing in the morning. You can also hear the occasional train passing through nearby. If you enjoy seeing the stars you will really enjoy it here the sky is very dark at night. Don't forget to bring your flashlights. Lol! We have several spacious sites to choose from including~ 2 platform sites, 2 A-frame cabins with AC/heat, 3 primitive tent sites, 1 RV that is fully hooked up, and 10 RV sites with power and water and sewer available. Each site is set up with a fire pit, picnic table, and camp grill. All campers have access to our 2 bath-houses with hot/cold showers and flushable toilets. We just finished building our RV park with 10 sites with electric and water hook-ups that is NOW OPEN!- with a brand new 4 stall Bath-house, Laundry Facility and more sites to come later. You may also visit the farm animals, we have lots of them. Mini-ponies, zebu cows, ducks, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, goat and a EMU!! We have over 60 acres of hiking/bike trails. We hope to have E-bike/golf cart rentals for our licensed guests soon. We can't wait to see you! Book your site today!

Railroad Refugee Homestead

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Sylvester, GA
Hello friends, and welcome to my new Homestead in beautiful Southwest Georgia. I have almost 5 acres of wooded property that I am in the long, tedious process of clearing and using. So far there are no structures or services on the property, but I have a large, quiet, cleared area that can accommodate several RVs and has a large fire pit and picnic table. I also have a pile of firewood that you can use for a fee. Up until recently, there wasn't access to this property or even a culvert from the road. The place is on a quiet, dead-end road with only a few houses around, and it backs up to hunting plantation ground. I camp here several days a week with my small camper and it is a great place to enjoy an evening by the fire and a quiet night's sleep without being disturbed. Just understand that this is a passion project and a work in progress. Please be 100% self-contained and don't leave any trash behind. Pack it in, Pack it out.

Blackbird Farm

3 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Buena Vista, GA
We are a working aquaponics farm, located in Marion Co Georgia. From maps it shows that we are about 13 miles straight line distance from Columbus Georgia. That would be true if you could drive through Fort Moore, which you can't so in reality we are actually about 35 mins or 23 miles from Columbus. Luckily if you want to experience some of the activities there, the drive is pleasant with very little traffic. Our rush hour consists on average of about 20 cars until you get back in closer to the city. Our campsite sits beyond the gate in front of our small farm/general store. There are rustic bathrooms with hot water, wifi and plenty to do! We encourage you to hike, bike, and explore. Deer, coyotes, wild hogs, and other creatures roam freely. Any pets must stay fully leashed at all times (see below). Our day starts early in the summer as we harvest for market. We make every effort to be very quiet, but the field crops are close to your camp site. We will never run a tractor until after 11am. You may hear the greenhouse fans kick on starting around 9am when the system starts warming up. Pets - Are welcome if contained on a leash at all times. Due to wildlife and our own animals present, we can not allow dogs to roam freely. Even the best pooch can react uncharacteristically to baby goats, not to mention crazy chickens. Bathrooms - are located next to the store and a short walk from your tent site. Site - Is on level ground for tents campers RV vans and more. There is a fire pit, picnic table and water spigot. The water is not well water and comes from the county main water line. There is a main highway leading up to our gate so you do not have to off road to get to the property. We love to give tours and welcome you to explore. We also for full transparency mention we are a working farm, so roosters, tractors, and other chores start early. We however do not make noise up by your site until much later in the morning. We want you to sleep soundly and peacefully.

Pine And Oak Campsite

2 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · Ladonia, AL
Escape to a private campsite in rural Alabama. The property is surrounded by forest and wildlife. There are several places to hang a hammock and plenty of room for outdoor games like cornhole. Enjoy making smores by the campfire and gazing at the stars. The city of Columbus is about 25 minutes away and offers white water rafting, zip lining, axe throwing, a river-walk, and other activities. There are plenty of lakes and rivers to go fishing. Auburn is about 40 mins away. The site offers an outhouse, fire pit, fire pit grill rack for cooking, platform (which can be used for small/medium tents, or to hold a table and chairs) and a hiking trail that is about 1/3 of a mile. Please use peat moss in the metal bucket next to outhouse to cover the waste in the outhouse. Please note, the site has a road but during very heavy rain the road can accumulate mud. Small cars are able to access campsite and park at site usually pretty easily. Please message me beforehand if you are worried about driving conditions. The property is surrounded by hunting land so please be mindful of property lines and do your best to stay on the trail. Also, expect gunshots every once in a while. Deer season has a lot more activity, and there may be more traffic a couple hundred feet from the campsite. This is normal and happens every year. Expect neighbors to practice shooting on occasion. Property also has natural wildlife like coyotes, snakes, spiders, ants, etc.. Alabama can also get very hot during June, July, August. Please prepare accordingly. My wife and I bought this property in 2021 with the goal of turning this land into a homestead. She is currently in the army. My mom and stepfather live at the front of the property and will be able to help accommodate you if needed. Meeting at the front of the property is not needed.

Private RV Site Full Hookup

1 site · RV1 acre · Fort Gaines, GA
We love the outdoors, so naturally, we love to camp. We were looking for a few properties that would allow us to get away and camp in a secluded area where we can enjoy nature. We found this property, and with its proximity to Lake Eufaula and George Bagby State Park, we knew that it was a perfect location. So now we want to make this property available for your enjoyment as well! Learn more about this land: Come and enjoy the great outdoors at Lake Eufaula (Walter F. George Reservoir). With your private RV site being located next to the entrance to George Bagby State Park, you will have easy access to all the activities and amenities that the lake and park have to offer. Whether you enjoy fishing, swimming, biking, kayaking, canoeing, wildlife viewing, a nature walk, or if you just want to relax by a fire at your campsite, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors during your stay. The Park has a really nice boat landing, which is less than 1/2 mile from our lot, so it is very convenient to launch your boat. It also has a marina that is only $10 per day if you want to leave your boat at the lake while you are there, or you can just tie it up at the park if you want to head back to your campsite for a break during the day.  When you get back to the park with your catch you can make good use of the fish cleaning station as well. There are also picnic tables, a playground, a really nice swimming area, large pavilions, a restaurant, tennis courts, and a golf course at the Park as well. If you like wildlife viewing, you can take a walk or a bike ride on the paved bike path which is over 3 miles long. It is rare to walk or ride this path without seeing deer or other wildlife (refer to the pics section for more detail of the walking/bike path).  We also see deer from our campsite, more often than not, when we are there. Even though there are other residents on this drive, our lot backs up to a large wooded parcel of land and the lot next to this site is vacant, so you will have plenty of privacy during your stay.  Our RV is on another site on this property, but we normally won't be there if the site is booked so that our guests will have the whole property to themselves.  However, sometimes we have to come in on Friday evening to complete landscape maintenance on our other properties, if so, we will leave on Saturday afternoon.  This site has the following amenities: 1 acre of land with plenty of shade, a level gravel pad, and a fire pit. It also has a full hookup with electric, water, sewer, and free WIFI. We pay for garbage pickup as well, so there is a large can provided for your convenience (pickup is usually on Monday around 8 am).  This 1-acre site has more privacy than most campgrounds because there are no other campers 20' away and very few people live on this drive. The site has easy access, as it is just a short distance off of the paved entrance road to the park (refer to map in pics section for more detail on location). NOTE: Our site is not on the water, the pics of the lake are from areas within walking distance from our site.  When it comes to tent camping, we don't mind if you add a tent, but you must have an RV with a bathroom because there are no bathroom facilities on-site. Can you picture yourself here for a relaxing time at the Lake during the day, or enjoying a campfire at night? If so, go ahead and book this RV site for a getaway while the dates are available! Helpful Information:   If you need to shop, there is a Dollar General, Rubos Grocery, convenience stores (gas and bait), bulk ice machine with filtered drinking water, etc. in Fort Gaines which is only 3 miles away.   Also, there is an annual park pass available ($25 for seniors) that will allow you to visit any Georgia state park as many times as you would like throughout the year of purchase, which can be purchased at the lodge in Bagby. Other parks and places to visit-  Historic are of Fort Gaines 4 miles, East Bank Park 2.5 miles, Kolomoki Mounds State Park 17 miles, Providence Canyon State Park 37 miles, Yoholo Micco Trail 22 miles. We also have a 2 bd/2bth mobile home on a 1-acre lot across the road that we rent out as a short-term rental.  So if you need more room for family or friends, this may be an option for you. If you need any more information or you have any questions please feel free to ask.

The best camping near Jimmy Carter National Historic Site guide

Overview

About

From the presidency to the Nobel Peace Prize, Jimmy Carter has left his mark on the nation. And it all started in Plains, Georgia, Jimmy's hometown. Want to learn more about this beloved former president? This historic area features several key sites located across the rural town.

Plains' main draw is the Carter Boyhood Farm. Owned by Jimmy's family from 1928 to 1949, this humble residence molded the president during his early years. Walk through the wayside exhibits, or embark on a Ranger-guided tour on the weekends. The whole place takes about an hour to see. A barn, a blacksmith shop, and a working garden are a blast from the past.

Next stop—the Plains High School. This is where Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter both spent their teenage years. Today, the building offers a new type of learning experience. The exhibits and historic furnishings offer a glimpse of the former president and first lady's everyday lives.

You can't visit Jimmy's hometown without seeing the Plains Train Depot. Built in 1888, this is the oldest building in town. Here you find exhibits detailing Jimmy Carter's senate and presidential campaigns.

Wrap up your day at the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail. The short trek is a conservation effort spearheaded by the first lady herself. Butterflies flutter around milkweed, parsley, and other flowering plants that help the creatures thrive.

All stops throughout the historic site include a cell phone audio tour. Just dial the number shown on the tour signs to get started. If you have some extra time, check out the antique stores and cafes in Plains' historic district.

For a taste of presidential history, Plains is definitely worth a stop. Jimmy Carter fans and history buffs of all stripes are sure to come away satisfied.
