So while you have privacy in the trees, you may have smile-and-wave distance interaction with other humans during your stay. There are also neighbors to the East several hundred yards away as well. A one-mile trail winds through the property that you are welcome to enjoy. Let me know if you are interested and I will show you were to find the trailhead. The path leads you to fascinating sites such as a tar caldera, Chumash cupules and mortars on boulders, and a tar marsh where wildlife thrives. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, botanist, birder, hiker, or simply seeking peace, this land offers something for you. We welcome guests to stay for a maximum of three days, but we're open to accommodating longer stays upon request. Learn more about this land:A vast expanse of oak trees, California Junipers and rugged, mountainous land running with jackrabbits, quail, and owls that is just 3 miles from Vazquez Rocks and the PCT, our ranch transports you. From the tent campsite, you look out for 20 miles and see nothing but nature across small mountains and canyons all the way to the peaks of Angeles National Forest in the distance. The campsite is a large flat area. For a trailer or RV it's a great place to park and the view is towards wide open spaces. With a tent or if you want more pure nature, you can drive out onto the property further towards the small ruin of the old homesteader's cabin or beyond. The property has a long-abandoned gold mine and circular arrastres where miners used mules to break up rocks. Nearby Acton has pick-your-own apples/pears/peaches at Bloom farms. We are at 3000 feet with strong sun during the day and cool mountains air at night. The camping is set away from structures, but if you want to stroll, closer to the ranch buildings, we have friendly small goats you can visit if interested and horses and a donkey to say hello to across the corral fence.

There are 4 permanent residents on the land, including me, who live within several hundred feet are in and out of the ranch daily. Our driveway passes near your campsite. So while you have privacy in the trees, you may have smile-and-wave distance interaction with other humans during your stay. There are also neighbors to the East several hundred yards away as well. A one-mile trail winds through the property that you are welcome to enjoy. Let me know if you are interested and I will show you were to find the trailhead. The path leads you to fascinating sites such as a tar caldera, Chumash cupules and mortars on boulders, and a tar marsh where wildlife thrives. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, botanist, birder, hiker, or simply seeking peace, this land offers something for you. We welcome guests to stay for a maximum of three days, but we're open to accommodating longer stays upon request. Learn more about this land:A vast expanse of oak trees, California Junipers and rugged, mountainous land running with jackrabbits, quail, and owls that is just 3 miles from Vazquez Rocks and the PCT, our ranch transports you. From the tent campsite, you look out for 20 miles and see nothing but nature across small mountains and canyons all the way to the peaks of Angeles National Forest in the distance. The campsite is a large flat area. For a trailer or RV it's a great place to park and the view is towards wide open spaces. With a tent or if you want more pure nature, you can drive out onto the property further towards the small ruin of the old homesteader's cabin or beyond. The property has a long-abandoned gold mine and circular arrastres where miners used mules to break up rocks. Nearby Acton has pick-your-own apples/pears/peaches at Bloom farms. We are at 3000 feet with strong sun during the day and cool mountains air at night. The camping is set away from structures, but if you want to stroll, closer to the ranch buildings, we have friendly small goats you can visit if interested and horses and a donkey to say hello to across the corral fence.

Tony, Saskia, Emily, Mezze (not sure of spelling!) and all of the community working on the property were incredibly welcoming, kind and helpful! From the moment we arrived, we knew this would be a lovely weekend. Once greeted we were given a tour and offered to choose between a number of sites based on the preferences we shared. The pool was such a great amenity for a hot weekend, and the lookout point at the top of the property had amazing start gazing, and great views of the surrounding valley. The dogs on property were friendly and fun to hang with. The kitchen, bathrooms and saloon were great amenities to have as well. The decor was unique and fun, with plenty hammocks to lounge in, tables and chairs to use. We highly recommend ArtFarm for anyone looking for a fun place to stay, with amenities and a great community of people to connect with. We will definitely be back!

The pool was amazing with the heat wave Labor Day weekend! The communal bathrooms and shower area was well maintained and taken care of by the staff. The solar lighting they had around the property provided a cute sparkling shimmer to the area. The upper bar/bonfire/pool table area was a very cool atmosphere to hang out, meet people, while under the stairs. They even have their fully furnished kitchen to cook food if you’d like. The area is semi spread out so not much privacy if you are looking for a private stay but it made for some fun interactions

We've been here a few times and plan to come back again. Facilities are clean and convenient, the views can't be beat, and the location in general is excellent and close to lots of other activities. The camp sites can be a bit of a walk, but they provide wheel barrows that are pretty giant to help with your stuff so it's not a big deal. We came on a holiday weekend this last trip and they had a DJ on the lawn and $3 tacos, so that was an extra bonus that made things festive. Neighbors at the tent sites have always been kind and considerate so far. Looking forward to our next trip soon!

i was in town (from maine) for a convention, and wanted to stay somewhere quieter and cheaper than an LA hotel. this was perfect for that, tucked away in the mountains, it felt like a really nice relaxing place to return to at night. the drive was also pretty scenic for an out-of-towner. i didn’t do much exploring of the land, but what i saw was really cool! robin was very accommodating. im a hammock camper, so when i was planning my trip, i was calling around to different campgrounds to confirm whether they had trees i could hammock in. robin switched right over to facetime and showed me the places where i could hang, and even updating his listing so that i could be sure i was booking the right spot. the amenities are what i would’ve expected for what i paid for. the kitchen area was MORE than i expected, but it is certainly rustic. the bathroom was a bit dirty (ants galore on the ant farm!) and incredibly tiny, with no where to set stuff down. the light also didn’t work, so i used my headlamp. the shower was the sketchiest part, it low key felt like i was gonna fall through the floor. don’t expect the ritz, and maybe avoid the shower if you can, and you’ll be fine. 10/10 host 9/10 location 5/10 amenities

Such a cool place to be. ArtFarm has the best of all worlds. There is a desert, a forest, and an old town feel. We had such a great experience. Positive: - Very friendly staff and helpful - Hot/Cold Shower - Full use of the kitchenette - Swimming pool overlooking the mountain. - peace and quiet - beautiful view of the stars Minor negative - If the composed bathroom is not for you, it's not your place. (it is clean every morning) - Some bug issues, so bring "off" - Some of the equipment is old (but you are camping, so don't expect hotel amenities) We were able to check out their cabins. It has AC and clean bedding. We want to come back and try their cabins.

Has a really nice time camping at The Ford. The site is large and has lots of shaded, usable space. Tons of greenery and birds. It is close to a road and cars can be loud at night. Bring white noise or earplugs. The chickens were really fun to have nearby, and the frogs and crickets go crazy at night. Bugs are present, but not aggressive. Had a really nice stay.

I had a wonderful retreat at the Japanese teahouse and plan to return. Everything was perfect, and I could sense the care that has gone into this amazing property, from the unique art to the decor and special items to the comfy bedding and linens. The outdoor kitchen is so relaxing. I saw a red tailed hawk, hummingbirds, butterflies, and an assortment of little creatures as I made my meals and spent quiet time on the deck with my dog. If you are chill and appreciate unique settings and nature, this is paradise.

About

Named after a Hollywood actor, this sandy shoreline is where locals escape the crowds of nearby Malibu and Santa Monica. With three miles of sand, there’s plenty of space to swim, surf, and sunbathe, or you can explore the coast along the 19-mile South Bay Bicycle Trail. Need more convincing? Will Rogers State Beach has also graced the small screen in several TV shows, including the original Baywatch. There’s no camping at the state park, but campers can head inland to camp in the mountains or check into an RV park in nearby Malibu.

When to go

The sun shines through all four seasons at Will Rogers, so you can enjoy seaside strolls and bike rides even when it’s too cold to swim. Peak season is June through August, and although it’s often quieter than neighboring beaches, it can still get busy. Get there before midday to snag a parking spot, especially on weekends and holidays.  

Know before you go

  • Will Rogers State Beach is located along the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1), between Santa Monica and Malibu in West LA. It’s about a 19-mile or 40-minute drive from downtown LA. 
  • Daily parking fees are charged at the state beach. Will Rogers is one of the few California State Parks that does not accept the Annual Day Use Pass.
  • Facilities at Will Rogers State Beach include volleyball courts, a children’s playground, a beachside cafĂŠ, picnic tables, showers, and restrooms. There are lifeguard patrols through summer.
  • There are accessible parking spaces, restrooms, and picnic sites at Will Rogers State beach. Beach wheelchairs are also available.
