all around the U.S. playing his music and I work for a children's book company. One day, we decided that we wanted to live the rest of our lives hosting live music, and events and that's how Rock & Tree began. As the idea grew, we wanted to create an Open Canvas so that the guest could dream up what they wanted on our stage. We moved to the Inland Empire from Santa Monica, in 2017 with the dream of building an open canvas event space out of sustainable, re purposed and natural materials. Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees.
Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Detour N De Luz, offers camping experiences that are unique and outside the status quo. Campers are given freedom of choice. Within a 10 acre range of sloping hillside, majestic rock formations and lush exotic landscape, you can find your own ideal camp spot or choose one of our leveled spots, already cleared of dry brush and ready for above ground standard tent camping. Dogs allowed on leash only and be familiar with Southern California's indigenous wildlife proper protocol, when accompanied by your canine.
The camping area resides on the North side of the Via Cordoniz access road, starting at Deadwood Dome site and the Detour N De Luz sign at top of staircase, ranging North West 3/4 of the mountain up, and 10 acres left. Please be mindful of the property markers, and respect our neighboring property lines. You are responsible for your own fitness in hiking the inclining trails and staircases. Hiking or walking sticks are highly recommended.
A shared cooking area, has been cleared, a small fire extinguisher provided, burn kit, and carved crater seating. Nearby, a shared pit toilet pallet stall with a small 5 gallon solar shower bag, shower
and pouring bottle-for minor freshening, vanity mirror and 5 gallon water jug, refilled as needed.
Two small sleeping tents are available for rent. Cost is an additional $5 per night, per sleeping tent. If you would like the tent set up and taken down for you, we charge a $5 flat, per tent, set up/breakdown fee. One single person, military style, fold out, sleeping cot, is also available for rent, at $5 per night. Please message us in advance to reserve sleeping amenities, as they are available first come, first serve.
A welcome fruit tray of chiramoyas, guava or avacado, or bouquet of fresh cut Protea or leucidendrom flower bouquet, (all grown on property), is available, upon request, for special occasions. Please message us in your reservation, with advanced notice.

The tent was cozy, came with a propane heater. The view was amazing! Both the scenery during daytime, and the stars at night.
Hosts were friendly and helpful. Bathroom and shower are clean. Would definitely recommend

Had a great stay at this campsite! The surroundings were beautiful, the site was well maintained, and it was peaceful and relaxing. Second visit to this year at this campground and I have to say it’s absolutely one of the best private campgrounds in the San Diego area. Stunning views from nearly every location. With hot showers and clean restrooms (flushable toilets !!), a on site store with most camping needs, what more could a camper need. It honestly feels like stepping into a movie, from the fee range goats (and llama) that share the space, to the sunrises above the clouds that appear endless I cannot recommend this place enough. And not to mention the extremely accesible prices for tent/rv camping. Overall 11/10 so awesome will be returning frequently!!!

3 nights at The White Lodge
Such a cute, private spot near the city. The canned ham may be small but it is so cozy and full of character. The bed was very comfy, and we appreciated a kettle being provided. We did need to pick up our own mugs, so keep that in mind if you like a warm beverage in the morning. The cooler is convenient, but we wouldn’t advise expecting it to function as a fridge. The space around the camper is very private feeling with trees around it. The hot tub is such a lovely addition and was fun to use.
The whole property is very dreamy. There was plenty of space for eating outdoors. Although the weather for us didn’t permit using the pool, it was so beautiful to look at. The bathroom is just a short walk away, and has awesome decor. We would advise bringing sandals or slides for walking to and from the bathroom and shower. The shower is a fun experience, although it’s important to note it’s quite small (width wise) to enter into the cave area. It’s not feasible for dressing in there, so you will also need to be comfortable walking back in your towel or a robe.
The road to the home is very steep and narrow. Street parking is limited but we didn’t have an issue finding parking every night, even when we came back later.
There are a couple of cats on the property that visited us and were so cute and friendly. We also got to meet Morgan who was very helpful and kind! We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The view was stunning, the bus was comfy and was an added part of the experience for sure. Every morning I was woken up by the running of the goats lol. They would stop sometimes and hang out as well. Had a lovely solo camping trip here and would definitely return again!

This place is absolutely adorable! The pond is beautiful and Lucy has a perfect spot to set up and relax! The driveway is steep with a tight turn that has a tree on one side and limited space on the other which made it difficult to get in and out. I would also be nervous when it rained that the ground may get soft and possible have issues getting out. That being said, I loved staying there. The property was beautiful and Lucy is a wonderful host—I would definitely recommend

So Cal Campground was perfect for us! We were lucky to be the only campers there in early December 2025. The facilities were perfect since we were from out of state, and needed a clean facility to get ready for a wedding we were attending several miles away. It was much more memorable than a hotel room. About
Spread out over roughly 30 acres in the Orange County community of Newport Beach, Corona del Mar State Beach is a popular spot for swimming, surfing, diving, and sunbathing, particularly in the summer months. It features a half-mile of sandy shores and views out over the sea, plus easy access to nearby Inspiration Point, a popular spot for watching the sunset. Although a day-use beach with no overnight camping, Corona del Mar is also a popular spot to catch grunion fish, which come on to the beaches to spawn during high tide in what Southern Californians know as a "grunion run."
When to go
Corona del Mar is a year-round destination, with warm summers ideal for swimming and cooler—but rarely cold—winters that tend to get a touch of rain. The warmest period of the year is from July through early October, and September is a particularly ideal time to avoid big summer crowds. Grunion runs take place in March and from June to September during three to four nights around the new and full moons.
Know before you go
- There are 16 wood-burning fire rings at the beach and eight charcoal rings. All are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Portable barbecues are not allowed.
- Dogs are allowed at the beach before 10 am or after 4:30 pm, but must remain on leashes at all times.
- Wheelchair users can get to the beach via the main access road, near the corner of Iris Street and Ocean Boulevard. There’s also a loaner beach wheelchair available from the lifeguard station at the base of the pier. Four of the fire rings at the beach are ADA accessible.
