Great directions and communication from Captain Jon. Even though he is closed for the season, he graciously answered my query about a one night stay. I had wanted to stop earlier in the season, but he had sold out for the night! This was a very peaceful quiet overnight for me & my dog. The temps were cold so we did not swim in the clear pond. But we watched a beautiful sunset, and beautiful sunrise. I hope you return in warmer weather, to dip my toes in the pond!!
There is a coin-op laundry room for those that need it. And RV hookups.

Site 4 was exactly what we were hoping for. Cold, clear weather with perfect desert nights and wide open skies. The campsite was quiet, clean, and genuinely beautiful, with plenty of space to relax and take it all in. It felt peaceful without feeling too isolated, and everything was well cared for. We will definitely be back.

This is a really beautiful place to camp. The property is surrounded by mountains, and there are lots of trails to walk, with Joshua Trees and other cool desert plants. It's very quiet - I didn't see a single car drive by while I was here! The dirt road to get here is a little bumpy, but not bad at all. I definitely recommend staying here, and it's a really peaceful campsite!

This is a perfect place to pull in on your way south from Las Vegas or traveling north to parts unknown. Baker Store is a short walk and Los Doritos serves excellent food. A good value for up to 40 ft RV.

Jon is so friendly and welcoming! His land has tons of available activities and shared spaces for socializing and the sites are well dispersed around his swimming hole. I was only passing through for one night but it was a hot afternoon and my dog got to cool off swimming while I took an available paddle board out on the water. I will have to come back for a longer stay sometime.

It rained during the day so there was a huge puddle leading to their side gate, and we slid getting in through the gate on the mud. I’m sure on a drier day though, it is much easier to get in. They met us at the road, and were super helpful and accommodating. Happy we were able to use our generator :)

Great spot to get out of the city but still have a sick skate park and BEA-utiful views of the sunset and night sky. Stayed with a couple friends and its definitely a weekend we will never forget!

Jon's land was remote and quiet. He was very helpful. He was always a text away. It was nice to cool off in the water. Site is also close to gas stations if anything else was needed. We appreciate Jon and his hospitality.

Overview
About
The Painted Rocks are a unique roadside attraction found just outside of the Fort Irwin Military Base. This training camp has had many different squadrons come through its gates and it has become tradition to paint your squads insignia or colors on the large rocks that stand before the gates.
