Savour the moment and feel the magic of simplicity in our world of nature. Renowned for their spectacular scenery, the Megalong Valley Farm offers fresh mountain air, history and wildlife. Guests can expect some of the most spectacular sunsets, sunrises and scenery in the Blue Mountains. While you're here, check out some of the iconic destinations our region has to offer. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE PHONES: Phone reception is good, there is a Telstra exchange on the property. ROADS: Roads around the sites are unsealed, but most normal cars and the average SUV handle it okay. The road down into the Megalong Valley is tar sealed, very scenic but winding. ICE: Bring your own ice WOOD: Timber for fires can be purchased at reception. We are an environmental biodiversity precinct so don’t permit damage to vegetation. FIRES: Plenty of existing fire spots SHOPS: The township of Blackheath is 15klm away up on the Gt Western Hwy, none in the Valley SHADE: Plenty of shady areas WATER: We are on town water TOILETS there are 3 men's and 3 women's, plus 8 at reception, plus 3 in pioneer and 3 in corner paddock SHOWERS: 3 gas hot water showers in men's, 3 in women's, plus 2 in Lodge NOISE: Shutdown time for music is 10pm - no exceptions! but you can still enjoy the fires - quietly. THINGS TO DO: SCENIC RAILWAY 25 Klms away at Katoomba and 40 minutes travel time BIKE and WALKING TRACKS: Plenty of bush tracks, plus walks up at Porters Pass and Blackheath Dont forget to bring along some bread to feed the horses and donkeys - they love it You are reminded to allow enough time to arrive for this property.prior to dark, which is 5.0 in winter. It is difficult to find a wilderness campsite in the dark and disturbs other campers. Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

An amazing amount of wildlife - Birds, wombats, kangaroos of all kinds (wallaby, wallaroo, eastern greys etc), goannas, echidnas, turtles, ducks just to name a few. There are also plenty of roads to ride and explore via mountain bike or foot. The road in is a little rough, and there is only a small amount of levelled land. But it is still an amazing spot, where nature does all the hard work, and I would love to share it with people. This is the perfect place for those who want to be in total peace and quiet, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Each campsite is private, where by you're the only camper able to book the site. Some are more private than others - Read each description for details. *Please note* access to the property is via Megalong Road - a narrow windy road, the only road in and out of Megalong Valley. Google maps can sometimes show options through Kanimbla Valley - This is not possible. Ensure you come in via Megalong Road.

Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes. I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are snakes and ticks. - we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it. Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes. I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are snakes and ticks. - we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it. Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

The Hartley Vale Garlic Farm was established in 2018 as an organic garlic farm now owned by James and Michelle and their two children. The farm features a hempcrete building named 'The Stinking Rose' used for drying and curing garlic, that also acts as a big room for garlic feasts during planting (March, April and May each year). The building also houses toilet and shower facilities for guests when camping on site. On some evenings, the sky puts on a real show of golden sun rays with pink, purple and blue clouds while swallows flit across the garden beds catching moths. Spend the day in Bathurst by seeing many of the amazing sites including the famous Ben Chiffley Dam and spend the day on the water and even a short drive to Rockley to visit the famous pub now owned by Matt Moran. Bush setting bordering the Nattai National Park. Ticks a lot of boxes - close to Sydney, private sites, dam views and even a flushing toilet. Ground was very hard and rocky so tent pegs might be difficult. We camped at site 1 with a camper trailer. Some grass and some dirt at this site. Walk down to the aqua pool was worth it - 30ish min trip each way and it was steep and rocky. Water was available via large bottles stored across the camp. Great weekend had by the family.

My husband, dog and I had an amazing stay. This place is beautiful beyond words (photos don’t do the river justice), the bins are super handy, nice flushing toilets, and plenty of room to space out. We have Optus cell service and didn’t have reception on the property, but this is probably for the best anyways so we could make the most of our time. We hope to come back soon!

Absolutely beautiful stay at “the beach”. Picturesque, well kept, open green field with the sounds of the running river and wildlife all around complete the with the local horses about to say g’day. Well maintained ‘long drop’ close by if you need. Buyer be ware it is a steep rough drive in, but seek Damo for advice. He’s a legend and will provide any guidance you need. Fully recommend will be back.

Our favourite part was the table overlooking the look out. ☺️ Unfortunately, we only stayed one night and wished we’d booked longer! This was a great set up for our young family with new, clean shower and bathroom facilities. I imagine if it's fully booked the kitchen facilities would be stretched. And while the shower was lovely and hot, the kitchen water wasn't. I'd love to come back and hang out by the amazing fire pit, but with just the three of us it seemed a little overkill. The setting was grassy with plenty of shady trees. My young sons and I had a great time exploring the riverside, balancing on huge fallen trees and losing shoes in the quicksand. And the mini soccer field and slackline / climbing area were a bonus. Description and directions were spot on, and the host is kindly facilitating returning something we left behind. I'd recommend a visit for sure.

About

In the bush-clad foothills of the Blue Mountains are more than a dozen natural caves to explore at Jenolan Caves. Venture underground to trek through limestone caverns, follow subterranean rivers, and marvel at hanging stalactites, crystalline rocks, and fossils. Alternatively, spot kangaroos on a bush walk through the Jenolan Reserve, choose an active tour and scramble through cave tunnels by torchlight, or dare to discover the caves after dark. There’s no camping at Jenolan Caves, but campers have options within a 20-minute drive.

When to go

Jenolan Caves are open daily year-round, but advance bookings are always advisable, especially on weekends and during NSW school holidays. Peak season is summer (December through February), so book tours at least six weeks in advance. The caves provide a cool retreat from the heat, with underground temperatures maintaining 15°C no matter when you visit.

Know before you go

  • Jenolan Caves are 115 km west of Sydney, or about a 3-hour drive. From Katoomba, it’s about a 2-hour drive. Access to the caves is via Jenolan Cave Road or Edith Road (not accessible for caravans or large motorhomes).
  • There is no public transport to the caves, but free parking is available and shuttle buses run between the car park and the caves. The closest fuel station is 30 km away in Oberon, so be sure to fill up before you set out. 
  • You’ll need sturdy closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing to explore the caves. Bring something warm as it’s cool inside the caves. 
  • Facilities at Jenolan Caves include restrooms, a cafĂŠ, and a gift shop. The complex also has hotels and restaurants.
  • Most caves can only be visited as part of a guided tour, and minimum age restrictions apply. The only wheelchair-accessible cave is Orient Cave, and visits must be arranged in advance.
