Coming in at roughly 30 acres, Cold Springs Farm, established in 1915, sits nestled in its own little valley. A canyon running the north of the property in known for its wildlife population including bear, deer and elk. Our farms sits on an elk migration trail and, in April and October, we often see herds of 30 or more.
The farm's namesake spring feeds a small pond that has crawdads, ducks and Blue Heron; of course, there are also curious raccoons about. We eventually intend to stock the pond with Rainbow Trout.
Although we are a short 30-minutes to Portland, our private farm is free from unwanted lights and traffic, when the skies are clear starwatchers have many vantage points from which they can indulge their hobby! Our wide-open field is great for kite flying or frisbee; it's also a great place to practice your drone piloting skills. We also have paths in the tree line that you can hike and birdwatch or mountain bike. In August, you have access to pick as many blackberries as you want and trust me they delicious.
Cold Springs Farm is also a sanctuary. Our current residents include our KuneKune oinkers; Chris P Bacon, Wilber, Pigit, Hamish McBiscuit and our newest member Rowdy. The resident goats include; Dolly, Freddy McNubbins, Princess Daisy Mae, Mikey, Mildred (Milly), Marvin the bottle baby, Dafne, Booger, Cyranose "Nose" and Delilah the resident therapy goat. Rounding out the bunch are our farm dogs, Oscar Braveheart, Hoppin' Howie and Lulubear. You can see their adventures on Instagram @worst.farmer.ever
We look forward to welcoming to our Columbia River Gorge farm and introducing you to what our beautiful area has to offer. We are just minutes from many of the gorge waterfall hikes including the historic Multnomah falls and Vista House sitting on Crown Point. One Oregon's favorite summer concert venue, McMenamins Edgefield, is a short 10 miles. Concerts, wine tasting, and hiking within a short distance of the campsite, plus goat and pigs cuddles. It's memories in the making.Tent campers may prefer to pitch their tents in the boundary areas of the property, where the trees are, while camper van, car campers and RV folks may prefer to set up in the valley areas.
To achieve a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape, our double plateau to the northeast offers some nice vistas to the north.
We are located at the Western end of the Columbia River Gorge and the area can get windy at times. If kites are your thing, then you may just luck out and have a great day enjoying your hobby.
Nearby you will find the exceptional beauty of the Columbia River Gorge, including the Overlook at Crown Point. World famous Multnomah Falls is a scant 14 miles to the east, and the Multnomah Falls Lodge serves some amazing Pacific Northwest Cuisine.
Hiking, Biking, Birdwatching, Fishing, Amazing Geology...this area really does have it all.
Plus we have goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and more!
