Sardis Cove consists of three campgrounds located around this amazing and picturesque lake that covers 14,360 acres with 117 miles of shoreline.

Swim beach, fishing, hiking, wildlife viewing, and hunting are just some of the recreational opportunities afforded in this beautiful southeastern Oklahoma venue, five miles north of Clayton. Sardis Lake is also well known for producing several of Oklahoma’s largest species of bass.

This property has been in my family for 5 generations. There was a house and a cabin on it at one time, but now it just has the old cemetery and a small corral. The cemetery is notable, it being the final resting place of Wilson N. Jones (1827-1901), principal chief of the Choctaw Nation. Learn more about this land:Have a great stay. This is the first time my folks have let anyone stay on the farm. So please be respectful of the land. No trash/litter. You can see the stars at night in a way that is impossible in the cities. It’s really worth the drive. Perhaps bring a telescope! There are the remnants of long gone houses and a worn out barn. Interesting to look at. But be careful, your car might get stuck unless it has 4x4. There is a creek that runs along the backside to the South of the property. Sometimes it has water, sometimes not, depends on how much rain we’re getting. We only allow one camping party at a time, this ensures you get to enjoy the property undisturbed. It is primitive camping, no services, no facilities. Bring in everything you need, take out everything you brought.

Plenty of Ouachita’s endless hiking trails can be accessed from the byway. Kayaking the incredible Kiamichi river can also be on your agenda. Just wait till you see this lake; the happy little lake you’d expect in a Bob Ross masterpiece. Morning Light Mountain Lodge is a beautiful and wild place with plenty to keep you busy enjoying God’s Creation. It has a remote feel but is easily accessible from Talihina, LeFlore, Wister, Poteau, and Fort Smith, AR. Come and visit this magical place. You’ll be glad you did!

Privacy camping with bath houses and lake Eufaula just down the street! Camping can be in a hammock with trees close enough to hang your hammock, there’s ample room for up to three 2-man tents, pop up camper or even a small RV. Parking available for two vehicles in the drive way. There is a picnic table with a bench on each side, there's a trash can and inside is a bucket for restroom at the land. When I camp I set up a privacy area with tarps to be able to use for the bathroom and changing. A double fire pit for different cooking areas and lots of broken branches for burning. Keep alert of the burn ban times and never leave a fire burning when you leave. Feel free to get creative with the space for your camping adventure and have lots of fun!
