Welcome to Ruin Ridge at Marmalade Hill Retreats! This cozy, secluded, radioactive wasteland is nestled in the rolling hills of Vinton County. Rich with wildlife, our beloved twenty acres are home to deer, turkey, fox, coyotes, and bobcats, as well as many native plants and mushroom species. Located on a quiet gravel road, our acreage is off the beaten path but still within a reasonable traveling distance to several state parks and local attractions. In addition to our fun and unique camping experiences, we also have plans to complete a series of lovely hiking trails soon! It's been three years since the nuclear fallout, and society is no more. Cities are in ruins. Highways are clogged with the skeletal remains of abandoned vehicles. The winds of desolation whistle through the barren streets of empty towns. Humanity is all but wiped out. Food is scarce. You, a weary survivor, have been living as a nomad, traveling on foot from state to state in search of a safe haven, fending off marauders and killing the hungry creatures that used to be animals but are now . . . something else.
So far, you've come up empty.
Today, you've arrived at Ruin Ridge, what appears to be a deserted camp in the woods of yet another rural county in Ohio. It feels like you've been hiking through the endless state for an eternity. How long had it been now? Weeks? Months? You don't know anymore. The camp could be a safe place to hunker down for a few days. Regain your strength. Repair your gear. Map out your next steps.
Or it could be a trap.
Either way, you're too exhausted to go further. Gripping the hilt of your battered but trusty machete, you venture down the path and hope for the best.

With the least residents of all of Ohio's beautiful counties, Vinton County is close to several state parks and nature preserves. Experience the great outdoors by participating in a plethora of nearby activities including hiking, kayaking, zip lining, fishing, horseback riding, and more. Local parks include Hocking Hills State Park, Lake Hope State Park, Zaleski State Forest, the Moonville Rail Trail, Lake Alma State Park, Tar Hollow State Forest!
Enjoy 100% privacy at your secluded, post-apocalyptic campsite. (Seclusion may be less in the fall and winter months due to loss of foliage. During those seasons you may be able to glimpse our home and the neighbor's home. You may hear occasional traffic and dog activity, though we strive to keep the latter to a minimum.) A fire ring is provided, as well as a primitive toilet system. Deadwood is free to gather, and a starter bundle of seasoned and split firewood is included with your booking. Additional firewood is available at our camp store for $10 a bag load. Other camping essentials and souvenirs are also available for purchase at the camp store, including tent rentals. A loot crate containing potable water and nuclear fallout survival "necessities" is located near your campsite and can be found using the map you'll find upon arrival. Guests are expected to follow the "Leave No Trace" principles.
