Learn more about this land: A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. The property has 3 cottages on it and is situated across the street from Cayuga Lake in a secret wild garden, but is a 6 minute drive to downtown Ithaca Commons. This cottage is not for everyone. It is a cheap option in a cute, very bare bones cottage. It is best suited for low maintenance, easy travelers who are looking for an inexpensive place to crash after a long day of exploring. Guests who stay in the Shack share the bathroom in the main house with me - the bathroom has a separate entrance from the one I use in the main house. The cabin consists of 2 rooms - the upstairs has a double sized futon and a single futon mattress that can be used for guests, and the downstairs has a sleeper couch as well as a futon mattress that can be set up for extra guests. If you book the second room, it's an extra $30 per night. Note that the top room is accesses via a ladder. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but for the right fit it is the perfect home base to explore Ithaca's many spenders, ideally located across the street from Stewart Park and the trailhead to the Cayuga Waterfront Trail. and a short walk to the Stewart Park/downtown bus line and the East Shore swimming beach. Note, there is a cat who lives on the property and he sometimes comes to visit this studio. I see guests inviting him in occasionally to visit. If you're allergic, this isn't a good option for you.A step up from glamping, the "Shack" is a rustic, bohemian 2-story cabin/ art studio on a property that was formerly a train station. A Magic Fairy Land
What a spot! It's right off a main road but the driveway is a magical portal into a land of beautiful cabins and gentle water and trees. After a long drive across the country I was ready for this cozy welcome - access to a shower was delicious. Thank you!

The rustic art cabin was super cute inside and had more than enough space for my friend and I. There were more bed options than we needed and tons of extra blankets and pillow to get comfy with. I appreciated having heaters, a micro fridge, and a microwave available to us in the cabin. It is a short walk over to the main house to use the bathroom. Wylie went about and beyond by taking time to talk with us, give us some ideas to to in the area, and even offer us a cup of coffee when we went up to the house while she was making hers.

Unique, charming and clean, what else can you ask for in a place. I only stayed one night but will stay longer next time.

Super cool place very close to Stewart Park and the lake. Cabin was cozy and the fire pit was nice outside. Use of the kitchen and bathroom was awesome. Wylie is a great host and very friendly. I will definitely return.

I loved this place so very much. It was centrally located, wonderful vibe, loved the host cat, bathroom in the main house had a ton of charm. I hope this place continues to be listed as I would love to spend a weekend here with my boyfriend or kids this summer.
