The short version: Wellnesste (pronounced “wellness stay”) literally means "Wellness Onto You" and comes from our belief that wellness, happiness and the quality of life for all living creatures in directly tied to nature and the outdoors.
The more interesting version: Wellnesste was conceived by Christophe Marin (a French immigrant, former Army Green Beret, biologist, entrepreneur and avid conservationist) and Karen Gerlach (a Norwegian-American botanist). Our family's philosophy is that the power of nature can help to heal all wounds both spiritual and physical and thus aid in our individual wellness and "joie de vivre." We also believe in the gesture “Namaste” which represents the belief that there is a divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The Namaste gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. “Nama” means bow, “as” means I, and “te” means you. Therefore, Namaste literally means “bow me you” or “I bow to you.”
On a clear and crisp March day, following a silent meditation on the meaning of Namaste and the healing powers of nature (adjacent the spring melt waters of the mighty river that borders our 60 acre paradise), the name Wellnesste was born... brought to Christophe like a gift in the spring winds.
Our hope is that all of our visitors will be touched by the healing power of nature in this special river valley and thus come away with a sense of wellness and tranquility that they can bring back home with them.
We loved our stay here with the 5 of us, it would be a perfect spot to meet up with another family based on all the space, plentiful sleeping arrangements, and it’s own bathroom with shower.

Idyllic quiet cabin 🥰

The cabin was so cozy and relaxing - a welcome stop to break up the road trip between Ohio and Maine. The double Queen bunkbeds were perfect for us and the kids. Would definitely stay here again in any season. Christophe met us on arrival and was warm and welcoming, thank you for the lovely stay!

Wonderfully peaceful and serene.
The tree house was amazing. We had a wonderful time. We absolutely loved being right near the creek and had a blast exploring the rocks in the the water. Christophe was great and we loved all the animals (especially the pups) and the other guests were awesome as well. We had lots of fun hiking around the trails. We had a small problem with some mice (understandable and difficult to avoid being in the woods) and Christophe took care of it immediately after we told him. It was great chatting with Christophe and its easy to see that he has a passion for taking care of people. We would definitely love to come back again.

“Rustic cabin” doesn’t do justice to the place! Yes, the cabin itself is wood, with a fireplace and a loft for sleeping, but it is situated in the most beautifully landscaped estate, with manicured lawns as well as wild areas, beautiful trees, and luscious forests, and the soothing sound of the rushing river. The caretakers and their family are so hospitable, and it’s fabulous to have a self-service “grocery store” on site.
