Arkay Ranch is a 720 acre piece of land in the Sunshine Valley. We are just east of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, a few miles north of Questa, and less than an hour south of the Colorado boarder. Take a walk around the property, visit the Rio Grande National Monument, have a burger and a beer at Red River brewing, take a yoga class at Sala in Questa, or just sit and enjoy the views, which include Ute Mountain, the Blanca Peak massif, and Crestone peak in Colorado. Although our property is raw land, we are gradually improving and landscaping areas of the land to make it as comfortable as possible for campers and other short term visitors.Pitch your tent on the plains and gaze at the stars. Sunshine Valley offers some of the most beautiful views in northern New Mexico. Heck, it's all pretty amazing up here, but there's definitely something about being able to see the southern rockies stretch half way to Denver, Colorado. With the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east, the Rio Grande to the west, and Blanca peak and Crestone to the north, you won't struggle to find inspiration in this amazing place. The stars, oh the stars! Dark heavens provide some amazing stargazing opportunities, and rumor has it that when it isn't throwing splendid moods over your northern views, Ute Mountain is home to visitors from... up there... if you know what we mean. Bring your star charts and spend hours arguing with loved ones over whether that satellite you are looking at is Proxima Centauri or Saturn. The area is very remote and private, with walks that offer hours of contemplation and introspection. Take a drive to the gorge, grab a burger at Red River, a burrito at My Tia's or a drink at Wildcat Tavern. There's plenty to do in the area, or just sit and enjoy the serenity. P.s. I trail run with Taos Trail Runners so if you're interested in hiking trails in the area, I can give you recommendations. Also, I have a pretty extensive spreadsheet of restaurants, activities and trails. Please ask when you book!

Wide open spaces
I reached out to Damien with a request for a last minute booking and he was very responsive and answered all my questions. The property was what I was looking for, quiet, remote, and serene. I was given permission to explore the property so I wandered around a little while there. The property is rather exposed so if there’s much wind or inclement weather there’s no break from that. I lucked out because there wasn’t much of a hindrance for me in that regard. Hardly any light pollution allows for beautiful views of the night sky with parts of the Milky Way visible to the naked eye. Picturesque sunsets looking west with the mountains to the east painted by the setting Sun. Sunrises were just as scenic.
