Fall Lake Campground

If you want to head into the Boundary Waters, Fall Lake is the perfect base camp (just grab a permit before you head out there!) A chunk of the lake is within the Boundary Waters, and the rest is open to boating of all varieties. This developed campground is excellent for families with young'ns, thanks to the swimming beach, playground, and 1.5 mile hiking trail. You won’t get too scorched here, either, thanks to loads of shade from the aspen and fir trees. History buffs will also love the visitor center’s displays of artifact replicas that were found during archeological excavations.
