Black bears, nesting eagles, wolves and moose call Bearhead Lake State Park home, and we’re so grateful they let us crash their party. Nestled in the secluded Northwoods of Michigan amongst white and red pines along the pristine Bearhead Lake, Bearhead is a slice of heaven. Hikers can soak up Mother Nature’s goodness along 17 miles of trails, while cross-country skiiers have nine miles of trails to explore. And, dinner can’t get much fresher—walleye, bass, crappies and trout are all in Bearhead. Lots of options to rest your feet: drive-in, backpack, canoe and camper cabins.

The hike to Blueberry lake was really beautiful. We rented a canoe, which was a great way to experience the lake. The canoe rental is right at the state park office, and they allow dogs in the canoes.
