GREAT Low-maintenance Cabin!!!
For a relaxing Memorial Day weekend at Traverse city and the Dunes that didn't break the bank, Emily's site was a life saver. We could've chosen to stay in the rv park sites and sleep in our sedan, but going the extra bit and paying for a cabin was 100% worth it for us. It was at least half, sometimes less than a third of the cost of nearby hotels for the holiday weekend.
Even though we came in after 9 pm, Emily greeted us at the cabin and showed us the amenities on site and was so gracious. We found the Shirley to be a clean and modest 1 room cabin; it charged our devices, was comfortable, and the best part was the jaw-dropping view of the stars just outside the front door.
There's not running water inside the cabin, but on the property there are nearby portable toilets, accessible drinking water, and bundles of firewood for sale for the firepits at some sites.
11/10, would absolutely stay again.
Note: Make sure to check in with the owner before reserving to make sure its ready for new guests- sometimes Hipcamper messes that up.

Our “once a year” spot
We’ve been camping here once a year for the last three years because we were initially impressed the first time. Each time we come back there’s another thing to love. This time they’re quietly building a market to house their produce grown on the farm. The farming and improvements they’re making are never disturbing to both privacy or noise preference. You never even realize they’re there. Firewood is good and plenty, location is superb - directly between sleeping bear and TC.
At each site, the grass is freshly mowed. The ant hills are plenty but you’re outside in a field. They don’t intrude too much, use the included picnic bench to keep stuff off the floor as you always should and there won’t be a problem.
Stargazing is absolutely amazing out here. Stripes of Milky Way, passing stars, moving satellites are all visible.

Exactly what we wanted!
We loved the starry sky! We wanted a nice place to sleep in our van at night so we could hike and visit the dunes during the day. The land is laid out very much like a campground. Everything was marked and it was easy to find our space. There’s a large porta potty (it was clean) and a hand washing station.
We would definitely recommend it and would stay again if we were in the area.

Oopsies
Accidentally booked when it wasn’t open but they were incredibly accommodating! Made sure we had everything we needed and they were very accessible when we needed. Pretty area, and the fire pits were set up well. I recommend ordering firewood ahead of time because they only accept cash for now (should have Venmo later).

Nice place close to Empire
Really nice property close to Empire, MI. Emily and Robert were quick to respond and super helpful! The open fields are nice for star gazing. I liked that you could pick a site without a fire pit if you wanted. Nicely kept amenities.
