The I’m on Vacation Retreat is a Lodge + RV park tucked at the edge of the world in Shell Beach, LA. When you are in the middle of the expansive marsh, you would never know you are only 30 miles from the New Orleans French Quarter and 20 miles from Chalmette. Home of commercial shrimpers and oystermen, and the BEST INSHORE FISHING IN THE COUNTRY. Epic sunrises. Breathtaking sunsets. TROUT. REDFISH. Everything you didn’t know you needed. Take your pick on how you want to get away. Will you bring your own RV to one of our 21 Pad Sites? Or, will you rent the Pelican Perch Lodge? No matter how you want to get away, our cozy retreat will be the perfect home-base for experiencing South Louisiana’s marsh. And, once you arrive, you’ll know, this must be the place.

01) Retreat Camper

Great stay!

We loved staying here! We were here to visit New Orleans but wanted somewhere quiet and out of the way to stay, and this was perfect. We saw lots of wildlife, including a juvenile bald eagle, and the food from the surrounding areas was great, especially the jambalaya from Specks. Beautiful views and everyone we met was very kind. My cousin is already asking when we can go back :)

I’m TOTALLY on vacation!!!

We changed our course mid vacation and stumbled upon this absolutely gorgeous hidden gem. It was so perfect for visiting New Orleans, but next time we are for sure going to enjoy all Shell Beach has to offer. We really wish we could stay longer.because the hosts are just spectacular. Great hook ups, easy to level, and just a super cool spot. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Loved this place!

This place was beautiful. You are really submersed in the small marsh fishing village of St Bernard. A very neat area about an hour outside of NOLA. Host was very friendly and super responsive, the spots are pretty spacious as well. Very quiet area and beautiful sunsets and sunrises.

Loved the location and the beautiful sunrises. It is a bit of a ride to New Orleans and to get to the grocery store, but we were forewarned of this. Perfect location for an avid fisherman.

Quiet Campground w/ responsive host

The “I’m on vacation “ rv retreat is a small RV campground. We used it as a home base for traveling to New Orleans as it’s about 45 min away from all the NOLA things and it served us well. Margaret was super responsive during our stay and quick to address a small issue we had while there. There was a pleasant breeze while we were there which was nice, but, just a note, there is no shade or greenery so you will need to use the electric to control the temp in your camper in the hot months. I think this spot would be ideal if you were interested in fishing.

Very attentive host.

The hosts where very attentive to our needs. Very generous with their time, they helped in solving any problems or answering any question we could have so that we could have a great stay. It’s not the perfect spot for sunset but it is for sunrise. If you like to party there is a place for that not to far away from the camp, on the other side of the street. The other people staying here where mostly workers, quiet people. We where unlucky in a way that we experienced a late arrived neighbour which woke us up at 1 am with noise of installing himself. Overall, like I said in intro is host are trying their best to make their visiters needs to be fullfield and happy.
