Sanctuary of Sunlight
Very mixed feelings
I have very mixed feelings about camping here. The place is beautiful, but I don't recommend it for children. The dock area is too rocky, and I also don't recommend swimming in the area with children because of the weeds and lily pads. They can easily wrap around a child's legs or arms.
For adults, kayaking and fishing were great.
I think our biggest mistake was going here during the Fourth of July. Since it was a holiday, the neighbors had a huge gathering, so the road was busy, and the noise was awful. With that said, they were not rude or disrespectful to us at all. Honestly, they were just having fun. I don't know how it is on normal weekends. For me personally, we like it more quiet, especially later at night.
The host was awesome and answered all my questions and gave me information so we could enjoy the surrounding towns' fireworks and parades. This was very much appreciated.

Camping with dogs
The sight was secluded enough, caught a northern off the dock, really enjoyed ourselves. Mosquitos are heavy this year!

Great fishing!
We had a great weekend at Sanctuary of Sunlight! There are a lot of pros to this place. Private dock on a great fishing lake! We caught sizeable panfish, northern, catfish, and largemouth all right off the dock. Large level area and very easy to back into. The extra bench next to fireplace is useful, as well as the nice picnic table. Beautiful sunsets. Clean, well kept area.
I know everyone's interpretation of "private" is different. If you are used to camping at what I like to call "parking lot" campgrounds, where you practically hit the next camper walking out of yours, then this is amazingly private. There are woods surrounding the campsite on all sides. You can, however, see the house across the street through the trees, and there is a camper parked on the lot through the trees on one side of the campsite as well. No one was there the weekend we stayed, so it didn't bother us at all, but if they had been there it would have felt more like a really nice, spacious campground setting then a completely secluded lot. I definitely would still recommend this place, it honestly all depends on what you are looking for. The pros of the private dock and great fishing carry a huge weight in my book!

Beautiful Peaceful Retreat
Beautiful, peaceful campsite! We very much enjoyed our stay at Sanctuary of Sunshine. Lovely site surrounded by trees with a view of the lake and the sunset. We stayed on weekdays in September and there was very little traffic on the road, maybe 6 cars a day. So quiet and peaceful! It was so quiet! Loved watching the sunset while enjoying the fire!

Awesome place!!!!!
I'm tempted to give this place a bad review just so I can keep it to myself!!!! My only regret is that I don't have an ATV/UTV to ride all the trails. So relaxing and private. Good fishing, beautiful sunsets and no light pollution. Be sure to go into Minocqua..
