The construction of Many Pines Tiny House was started in the spring of 2015 and “completed” almost 3 years later in the fall of 2017. The house was moved to its present location on the eastern shore of Lake Chetek at “Many Pine Park” in September 2017. The house is based on the “Moschata'' tiny house plans with dormers from the Small House Catalog. The house sits on a custom 8’ X 20’ double (drop) axle “car hauler”. The frame is entirely built with 2x4’s and screws. Almost the whole construction was done by the owners William Ager and his brother-in-law, some exceptions were the closed cell spray-foam insulation and metal roof,
which were contracted out. Some of the walls are reclaimed barn wood, including the walls in the main loft and bathroom walls. In 2019 a local sandpoint water well was added. In 2021 the solar panels and electrical system were added. Many Pines is a custom built off-grid tiny house on wheels (THOW) located on the eastern shore of Lake Chetek. The tiny house is 20 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 14 feet tall. It has 226 sq feet of total living space. The house sits on a wooded 1.5 acre lot that is adjacent to the former resort called “Many Pines Resort” in the 1930’s, later called “Tall Timber Cottages” in the 1960’s-80’s.
The spaceBedrooms: We have a main sleeping loft, that has a queen size bed which is accessible by ladder. We also have a pullout loveseat that turns into a single bed on the main level. The house can sleep 3 people comfortably.
Amenities: refrigerator, stove, LP heater, microwave, coffee maker, wifi, composting toilet, indoor (hot water) shower, queen size bed in main loft, and single sofa sleeper pullout in main room. Unlimited water via a sandpoint well. The house's electricity comes from solar power and a 14 KWH battery bank.
Outside: Campfire with wood, lake access.
Not included: AC, TV
Guest accessAnywhere on the tiny house property is ok for guests to go. This includes a path down to the lake and new paths in the woods leading to the road. The easement road is ok for guests to walk along.
Other things to noteMany Pines Tiny House is off-grid so has limited solar electricity.
- The 14 KWH battery bank is powered by 3x 430 Watt solar panels. The solar panels replenish 100% of the batteries on sunny days and most of the batteries capacity when it's overcast. Where the house might run out of electricity is if there are 4 or more consecutive cloudy/rainy days. (rainy nights are ok!)
There should be plenty of electricity for regular use during a normal 3 day visit.
The bathroom can be a tight squeeze for some. Please note that if you are over 6' feet tall, you might have trouble being in the bathroom area.
