- NEW 2024! Sumac Camp/Group Site & Pine Camp/Walk In Site - Cabin Available Year Round - Campground Open May 1 - Oct 31 - Amish Bakery Fri & Sat - 15 min walk - Clear Lake Beach - 22 min drive Tucked in a valley among rolling hills just 70 miles east of St. Paul, discover a stunning sanctuary surrounded by hardwoods, pines and birch groves. Meander a walking trail system through 30 acres of woods and prairie. In 2019, all 10 acres of fields were planted as dedicated Monarch/pollinator habitat. This is a full sensory experience - flowered meadow and spectacular celestial nights with serenading hoot owls, frogs, crickets and yips of coyotes in the distance. Our chickens do their daily forage through the yard and woods. This is a birder's delight - a song bird refuge - turkey and deer being very common sightings. Our unique greenhouse and pergola are common use areas for all guests to enjoy. The pergola is a large cushioned area providing shade to read a book, charge a device, play cards, enjoy a beverage, eat a meal. Explore the greenhouse production of tomatoes, peppers, and ginger growing along with flowers and other hothouse varieties. Fill water containers, or use the large stainless steel sink (hot/cold water) and countertops to prep meals or wash up. You will also find a beverage service counter, yard games for use, and any on-farm items for sale in this area- firewood, plants, eggs and produce. Tucked discreetly behind the greenhouse is 1 of 2 drop-offs for garbage and recycling, and also 1 of 2 ultra clean port-a-potties found on property. *** We're family friendly! Adult occupancy is applied to 13 years and older. There is no occupancy charge/limit for children 12 years of age or under. *** We have 6 sites to offer. Providing a historical backdrop is our guest house - a fully restored Norwegian cabin built in 1894 (completed July 2022). Adjacent to the greenhouse is 2 RV (or tent) sites with full water and 30 amp hookups (Meadow Camp East and West). 2 additional sites accommodate RVs or tents. (Hill Camp and Sumac Camp). One of which is a very large area that is ideal for groups (Sumac Camp). Lastly, we have 1 walk-in tent site, the most private (Pine Camp), a short distance into the woods behind the greenhouse. Don't let our sleepy little town deceive you. The locals have huge hearts - are generous creatives, with ingenious businesses that spill over with hospitality. Uber local is 2 Amish businesses within a 15 minute walk - a bakery and a woodworking shop! We're happy to direct you to on-farm meat sales, herbal medicinals, goat milk products, home goods, local microbreweries and quilt shop to name a few. Local town events draw huge crowds with live music and fun for all ages. We are so blessed to steward this private oasis and look forward to sharing it with you!

Tent camping on Allen’s land was incredible! Having a sink available was so convenient for washing dishes. The portapottys were very clean. Our site was the perfect size for two tents. Make sure you consider that the meadow sites don’t have any shade minus the umbrella over the table, we luckily brought our pop up tent for shade. The fresh produce was delicious and fairly priced. The trails through the meadows were wide and well maintained. It was a beautiful sight and very quiet, there were only 2 other campers while we were there. Allen was great to chat with and knowledgeable about events in the area. There’s an amish bakery about a mile from the site with fresh pies, donuts, and bread. We will definitely be coming back to camp here again.

We loved staying at GRG. Very peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful grounds to walk around. Small town dining, Amish bakery nearby, and the people were all amazing! GRG were very helpful and accommodating.

Good Root Growers provides a wonderful place to relax & get away from the hustle of everyday life. My husband and I booked Meadow Camp East #3 and stayed for the weekend in our camper. The site is very easy to pull into/ leave from, and the electric/ water worked well. In the morning we woke up to the beautiful meadow flowers, which helped start our days off right. Allen & Sue take wonderful care of the property, and it was a pleasure to walk the trails around the property. Another feature that we enjoyed was the greenhouse and being able to walk amongst the plants growing. Dependent on what is ripe (tomatoes, peppers, etc.) produce can be purchased along with farm fresh chicken eggs (delicious!). Just down the way there is an Amish bakery- They have some of the best donuts I've ever tasted amongst other baked goods (bread, cookies, fruit fry pies) ! I would highly recommend this property and look forward to coming back :) Top notch hosts!

This place is fantastic! The site was clean and level. The surroundings were beautiful. It's peaceful and quiet. The site had a a firepit, picnic table, and swinging chair. The porta potty is about 50 feet from the site. Close enough but not too close. We're looking forward to going back! Bring cash for the Amish bakery on Fridays and Saturdays. It's delicious!

Beautiful property with fabulous fields of wildflowers. Great to walk the wonderful mowed paths and see the flowers during the day and to see the fireflies at night. Allen and Sue were wonderful hosts. We would highly recommend.

This was my second time there with my adult daughter and we both love it. So beautiful and so well maintained. The perfect relaxing get away. All of the comforts of a bigger campground without all of the hustle and bustle of people and noise. I highly recommend.
