Site 3 - Back in the woods
Great little spot tucked away from people. Enjoyed the solitude immensely!

On the edge of a city
Nice, large and away from town
Campsite was very large to accommodate if you were to choose to bring pets. It was nice because we felt like we were away from the touristy-ness of the apostle islands, but yet close enough to go out and hike and see Madeleine island. It’s about a 40 minute drive to Bayview. I also enjoyed not having any campers nearby. However, our first night there was someone in a distance constantly yelling at their dog. Not loud enough to ruin our stay. And you can hear traffic going by.
I am giving the site a 4 because The woods are very dense so it was a challenge to make a spot in the woods to go to the bathroom, but possible. We found 1 tree through the brush that would help with holding up food from Bears and critters. Otherwise, most of the trees are small and skinny. The tree styles also made it challenging to find a place to hang a solar shower, but we made it work.

Primitive camping
This is a very primitive camping spot. Right off a road that is not heavily trafficked, nice and secluded, but very buggy in the summer time. Mosquitos were off the chain, but they always bother me wherever I go. Lots of ticks we noticed on the second night and morning, but it is a nice spot with a fire allowed which did help with the bugs slightly. If you are looking for a space with just some land to pitch a tent it’s perfect. Quiet area. Definitely heard some coyotes in the field nearby, but they didn’t bother us at all. The stars were really great as well.

Good Price, Good Site
Secluded on it’s own, but a few minutes drive from the Oasis, a classic Wisconsin tavern where a local told a delightful tale about his dogs (and their breeding line) over a rum ‘n’ Coca-Cola (though probably fountain Pepsi, speaking of lines.) Bring bug spray when you come, but do come!

Primitive camping in Ashland
Location and price is prime. Kevin was very communicative after booking. Cell service was great for me. Lots of food options and walking trails nearby, as well as a dog park.
Book site #1 if you don’t want to carry all your supplies to the site! Your car will not be parked at the site.
The mosquitos are horrible but I’m sure that is to be expected.
