This is unique historical site where the Indians used to do a lot of trading with a French trader. There are 15 acres of wooded land along the Menominee River next to a county site with picnic tables under a pavilion and a pit toilet. You can hike the trails or relax in the river, or take a boat ride to go exploring or fishing. This is a small one room (8.5' x 13') rustic cabin with a triple twin bunk bed and a full-size air mattress for sleeping. Sheets, pillows and a light blanket are available for each bed. There is an outside cooking space set up with a grill and camp stove, potable water and a tub for washing up or doing dishes. The cabin is right on the water and has great river views. You can paddle a short distance down or up river to the sandbar and hang out with the locals. Maps to these locations by water are in the cabin. Also, there is a glow frisbee for a fun nighttime game (if you have never done this, you have to give it a try, bring glow bracelets to enhance this experience). Amenities that are provided; one RV battery fully charged and recharged by solar with inverter to run electric outlets, lights, ceiling fan, and can charge phones (Will not support a CPAP). A grill, cook stove, coffee percolator, camp shower bag (black/solar heated), pit toilet, table with 2- 5 gallon containers of potable water, a Rubbermaid bin for washing, fire pit, metal skewers, clothesline, canoe. Things you will need to bring: cooking supplies, eating supplies (plates & utensils), camp chairs, drinking water, toiletries, fishing stuff, life jackets for the right fit (2 orange ones are on site). There is no heat, AC or fridge. The cabin sleeps 5 with the option to have extra people, (they would need to bring their own tent), please inquire for more information.Spend time at Trappers cabin on the river and enjoy a peaceful wooded area with a campfire over looking the Menominee River. Soak up the sun and beautiful river views in a very private area on the river. You will have access to 15 acres along the river to hike and fish. The cabin has a triple twin bunk bed and a full size air mattress that can be used to accommodate 5 people inside the cabin. There is also an opportunity to have extra people in a tent (not provided). The cabin has a single deep cell battery with an inverter to run lights at night and charge phones (cannot support a CPAP). There will be two 5 gallon jugs of water on site for potable water. You will need to bring drinking water. There is also a 6 gallon shower bag on site for your use. The cabin/site will include; a gas grill, camp stove, coffee peculator, canoe (bring your own life jackets), sheets and light blankets for all the beds and air mattress, a wash bin (medium tupperware bin), and 2 hammocks. There is a lot of dead wood around to burn for a fire. There is no heat or AC.

Serene and peaceful
With pets
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of this private space. The "steep" hill is really small and is really only not suited for a sedan type vehicle. We have a Nissan SUV and it went up and down the steep bunny hill fine. We saw wildlife and caught fish. It was a wonderful place to spend quality time.

With kids
My wife and I plus our 2 kids stayed a night at trappers cabin. it was beautiful and well kept on the river but there were a few cons. There’s no mention that you will have strangers with dogs walking through your site as it’s on a public walking trail. Also in the hipcamp description it’s marked as a “park at site” this is not true and it only says you’ll have to walk if it rains heavily. We had to haul all of our stuff with a wheelbarrow through the woods making multiple trips which overall ruined our day as I just had a knee surgery. If you’re looking for privacy and to park your vehicle at the site this probably isn’t for you.

Wonderful space
Everything went well. The cabin is plenty spacious for two of us and 5 dogs. The site is well cared for. The sleeping arrangements were very comfortable. Plenty of options for a small or bigger group. The river bank was dreamy. Toilet and shower available which I appreciated greatly. This is glamping in my book!

Fall camp at Trappers Cabin
This cabin was absolutely stunning! Very cozy, clean cabin with amazing views of the river. Make sure you follow the written directions, otherwise it would have been tricky to find. But, that's what I also loved about it, it was a private oasis. The fall colors reflected beautifully on the river early in the morning.
