At Amnicon you'll find the perfect blend of far-enough-away and easy-enough-to-get-to. We're located at the end of a 5-mile-long dirt road, just 30 minutes outside of Duluth, MN. Our site features 600 acres of protected forests along the Amnicon River on the South Shore of Lake Superior. The wildlife is abundant, and we even have an eagle's nest on site. You'll enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the waves on Lake Superior, and waking up to 118+ species of birdsongs. We have an enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior that's a great place to watch the sunset and have a SMALL campfire. You're going to love it here.

Glamping Wall-Tent (#5)
Amazing location on Lake Superior
The proximity to Lake Superior is the game changer for this property. It is such a privilege to be able to walk for just 2 minutes from the Wall Tents and be down on a 1/2 mile long private beach on Lake Superior. Absolutely stunning.

Glamping Wall-Tent (#2)
Overall, this place is truly magical, and I would camp here again, but in my own tent. We arrived at night, and mistakingly used the gps coordinates in google maps which took us to an incorrect location. (Use Camp Amnicon as your destination in google maps!) I love that you have to hike to the sites, as it feels like you're far away from civilization. As others have mentioned, the hike is about 15 minutes. They provide carts for the hike in, which is awesome. The path was muddy, but that's to be expected from the listing details and past reviews. Fresh water and a sink are provided under the pavilion near the tents, which is another bonus. There aren't numbered signs on the tents (that I could see), so it was a little difficult finding ours in the dark, but we made our best guess and there were no problems. The beach is seconds away down a short, yet steep path. Sunset was absolutely beautiful, as was an evening campfire on the beach. Nighttime sounds of waves, loons, and passing ships were incredible! The only thing that troubled me was our tent had many holes, and the walls were not tightly secured to the platform. This resulted in bugs in our tent, and our dog slipped under the tent walls in the middle of the night and got skunked. Not fun, but just an unfortunate accident. The tents are close enough that you can hear other campers, so it is more of a communal vibe. I would definitely stay here again, in my own secure, more private tent site!

Alder (Hike-in Site)
The camp was very hospitable. However, the trail that led from the parking lot to our campsite was poorly maintained. The site was damp and unkept. I would book this site again, but pay closer attention to the hike in description. Not an easy site to access with coolers and camp chairs!

Alder (Hike-in Site)
This property is amazing. Spending time at the huge beach was definitely the highlight. The trails are nice and extensive, but after rainfall very muddy. If there is rain in the forecast or after a heavy rainfall, I would stay away from the Alder campsite and book Balsam of Hazel. Staff was very friendly.

Hazel (walk-in site)
Nice mowed camp site and facility, easy to find and carts helped with hauling gear to site. Had just rained so a little wet but with the raised tent spots not an issue. Nice little hike to get to the beach and enjoy Lake Superior. Would certainly go back.
