Flat Hollow is a very secluded mountain wilderness area. This hidden gem is a treat for the eyes and a real hideaway from the real world. There is a stocked pond, firepit, outdoor cooking supply, camper hookups, rental cabins, hiking trails, local trout stream, wifi, pet friendly but the main attraction is the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains and the guaranteed Classic Almost Heaven WV Experience you will get! The location is ideally located 17 miles from the Capitol of West Virginia and 11 miles from the airport! Only a few miles from I-79 and I-77 for people passing through but still want a real mountain wilderness experience. There is now an available Dumping Station!

Off leash and great views!

Our family loved camping on Elizabeth land! She personally escorted us up to the top of the mountain, where we had amazing views of the valley below, and our pups could run off leash!! She went the extra mile by bringing up some firewood. We learned that she gave side-by-side tours when we arrived and made time the following morning to take us on a tour of the area…complete with swimming holes and trip by the old coal mines. She was a gracious, fun and accommodating host. I would highly recommend staying with her and doing a tour!!!

WV Pawpaw Tent Site

Exceptional Spot

This site was majestic! The hill getting up was a bit rough but the host offers a shuttle service if needed (as well as guided tours!). The tent site is all the way in the back and is super private. The host was very accommodating. They recently added a shower house with a toilet and sink and it was MUCH appreciated. WiFi doesn’t reach all the way to the site but it’s easy to walk up and get a connection. There’s a great cooking fire set up separately from the camp fire, a trash can, and a bench at the site. Plus a cute little pond in the front! The pawpaw trees were so cute and there was a ton of shade. The host allows free exploration of the property and there were amazing trails everywhere. No complaints!

After booking and showing up to the property, I did not end up staying here because when I got there, it was not what I expected and gave me the creeps.

RealTree Rustic Cabin 2

Excellent experience, great host

I loved everything about my stay. Liz is an excellent host; very pleasant and interesting to talk with. The property is beautiful. It's very clean and well-maintained with nice hiking trails. I was on a solo trip and felt very safe here. I didn't go side-by-siding (short stay), but I can imagine it's great here in these lush mountains. I plan to stay here again!
