Located in the foothills of the Potomac Highlands, Buffalo Gap is a 1950s era former Mountain Kids Camp turned Retreat by a group of individuals who had a vision of creating a space where family and friends can enjoy a relaxing mountain get-away. Situated between two mountains -- Sandy Ridge and Slane's Knob -- Buffalo Gap sits in the gap between the two. Consequently, the 70 acre property is teaming with creeks and streams, along with a 1.5 acre spring fed lake, making it a peaceful and beautiful retreat from the daily stresses of life. Rent a cabin, camp, have a wedding or family reunion, enjoy our lakeview café, swim, hike, kayak, canoe, and so much more. With the nearby town of Capon Bridge just 10 minutes away and the Shenandoah Valley city of Winchester just 35 minutes, so much beauty and convenience with our riverside town and nearby bigger city for additional dining and entertainment as well as conveniences.

Amazing creek sounds
I stayed at this camp to attend a race in VA. I was between two campgrounds but went with this one because it had a pond and a creek. I was bringing my husky with me and he loves water. The site I chose appeared to be secluded but the campsites are relatively close. I had a couple staying on site 21 (which is probably the best site on the whole creekside campsites) and we made friendly chatter. Campsite 20 is a great site. The only downsides I saw, was I couldn't see a way to put up the hammock I brought. I could hear the creek at night, which was very soothing. I wish you could see the creek from the campsites but there is a lot of growth on each side of the creek by the campsite). The sun does shine down during the heat of the day on this campsite as well. The bathroom is walking distance! But the dining hall and showers are on the opposite side of the campgrounds. It isn't a deal breaker to me! The pond was amazing. Me and my husky had a wonderful time swimming around. We even enjoyed a stroll along the property and relaxed and dried off while swinging under a tree. The creek, to me, is the highlight of the property! I loved it. ❤️ I would definitely recommend this campsite and will definitely be back again!

Peaceful stay
We had a quiet, relaxed stay at Buffalo Gap. The tent sites by the creek are great, #24 was our favorite. It was peaceful and very quiet. The staff was super helpful and friendly. A big highlight was the wood fired sauna and dipping in the pond after. We would definitely come back.

So much fun
We had an amazing time!! Felt immediately welcome by Barbara who helped us find camper trailer space where we could plug in. The beach area is a blast, the kids enjoyed themselves and so did we!! Thank you for creating a space where people can rest by immersing themselves in the peace of nature!

Buffalo Gap was awesome!! Everyone was so nice and so accommodating. Atter the first night poured rain, we asked if we could rent a cabin for the next night and without hesitation they were able to figure out a solution for us. 10/10 will be back!
