Magic lil log cabin
An incredible blank canvas.
We brought our own power for creative projects so our stay may be a bit different but it is fun so sharing—and it goes to a point.
There is electricity for some basic LED lights, etc, but we required more because we are a new couple that mix audio and video, so, fun photos.
But the larger point is what a truly, well, magical place to have had as a base for such an exploration… we didn’t even get to the art stuff until the very end—getting to know the various lakes, the woods, the calm, the cabin, the sky, and each other—well, every day and every night was filled and perfect.
Privacy. Not a fan of the barking dog in the distance, but it was in the distance and I viewed that as the extra string lift hanging from the rug to ensure it is merely near perfection rather than perfection itself.
It was a blank canvas for us to paint each other on, and we had one hell of a time doing that!
Lovely. Just lovely.

Perfection
Lovely off-grid stay! Sooooo relaxing. We brought an extra solar battery for extra lights, but candles would also have worked just fine for an extra bit of light.
Popping down to the grocery store or coffee is so close and easy. Private and natural environment. The wood and gas stoves warm the place wonderfully—and surprisingly efficiently. Two rooms and a kitchen plus a porch make plenty of space for two people to co-exist, working n separate projects sometimes, then coming together again to relax and play, romp and dance!
And Suzy is a delight to work with.
In a word: Perfection!

Truly Magical!
Such a perfect place for exploring the Columbia River Gorge and a great meeting point between Seattle and Bend! The cabin was much bigger than we expected and comfortably slept 2 couples and a dog. The drive way is steep so be ready for that and the cabin was fairly dark (even during the day) so make sure to bring lots of light! The kitchen was well stocked (pans, plates, cups, silverware) but bring lots of water for washing dishes and drinking. Side note, the outhouse was one of the nicer ones I’ve seen so that was a pleasant surprise! Definitely recommend this spot and hope to be back in Trout Lake sometime soon.

Magic lil log cabin
This little cabin was wonderful. Bigger than we expected and a wonderful spot in the woods where the dogs could run around. A nice room with beds for four and a very comfy couch. WE were surprised with the well equipped kitchen. The setting in the woods was wonderful. Even the outhouse was great. We look forward to staying again -- maybe in the winter for XC skiing.
Magic lil log cabin
Overall, we had a great experience. The cabin is a wonderful step back in time and is quite charming. Driveway is steep, so something to think about if the weather is wetter. Easy to find and right down the road from the Trout Lake general store. Easy access to Mt Adams.
The listing was a little confusing so I was not sure what to expect until we got there. There are three buildings at the site, with the cabin you stay in being the middle one. There is a smaller cabin when you first go up the drive and a larger building with an attached garage at the far end. There was a bathroom in the cabin but this was unusable- there is no water or electricity. There is an outhouse out back that works. In the kitchen there is a working stove with minimal cooking supplies. Bring lights as the cabin is dark inside even during the day.
Our stay was louder than expected as an off grid cabin. There were multiple loud, barking dogs overnight that made sleeping difficulty. To our surprise, at 0545 on Saturday morning we were awoken by the sounds of dueling chainsaws and falling trees by a nearby logging site. We also could hear drums and a neighbors music at night. Nothing the host can help but did take away from ‘remoteness’ of the stay.

Magic lil log cabin
We had a great time at the magic lil cabin, despite the water being out. It’s nice and private, with plenty of room for a small group and dogs to roam. My only suggestion is to bring cookware and plenty of lighting.
