🌿✨Discover the Beauty of Vashon Island at Soulful Journeys✨🌿 Imagine a forested, 5 acre island retreat where tranquility meets adventure, tailored just for you. At Soulful Journeys Island Hipcamp, we help you reconnect with your inner spark in a natural paradise just a short ferry ride away from Seattle and a five minute drive, or ten minute walk from downtown Vashon. Whether you're looking for a peaceful island getaway or an active exploration via gravel bikes and kayaks, our hipcamp offers the perfect escape. 🏕️ Camping: Our beautiful location on Vashon Island has three glamping-type tent accommodations overlooking a valley and the western sky. Nestled among heirloom cherry trees, old growth Douglas firs, madrone, and cedar trees, our cozy tent sites include viewing platforms, fully equipped tents with built-in mattresses and sleeping bags, and can even accommodate extra campers both with or without gear (see add-ons). There is clear signage to a shared, flushing camp toilet, enclosed outdoor hot water camp shower and fully equipped, communal kitchen. In addition, we have three "Classic Campsites" where you provide your own camping tents and gear as well as three RV Sites for self-contained units. You still have access to our communal area. Camp Host: Philip has a seasonal small RV trailer placed within 100 feet of The Cherry Tree Ridge site. This allows the host to readily respond to the needs of our guests including firewood, equipment rentals, etc. 👨‍🍳 Foodies Paradise: Philip is a master at outdoor camp cooking and local cuisine. He has designed an outdoor kitchen to appeal to the foodies in your group with every type of cooking option imaginable from Coleman camp stoves, to a wood fired pizza oven, a stone fire pit, and a gas-fired paella Discada. A fully stocked communal kitchen offers pots and pans, implements, dining ware, coffee pots, herbs and spices--just bring your own food. But if you truly want to travel fast and light, allow Philip to prepare a camp breakfast, bagged lunches and a pit roasted salmon dinner. Simply see the add-ons to reserve. 🚴 Adventures Await: We offer a variety of adventures on the island. There are electric bikes, gravel bikes, paddle boards, and kayaks available to rent in the add-on section. Another option is to have Philip lead your group on a tour of local wineries, organic farms and island highlights such as Oscar, the Vashon Island Troll, located at Pt.Robinson Park, the Mukai Farm and Garden, an historic Japanese American strawberry farm, and local galleries. See private tours under add-ons. ⛴️ Getting here: Vashon Island is usually serviced by ferry through three main routes: Vashon to/from Fauntleroy, Southworth to/from Vashon and Tacoma to/from Vashon. Our hipcamp is located towards the north end of the island. Once off the ferry, we are located an eight minute drive or a 15 minute bike ride. If you desire to simply walk on to the ferry, we do offer transportation in the add-on section. 🍷 Vashon Highlights: Our hipcamp is ideally located an easy 7 minute bike ride and 15 minute walk from downtown Vashon. The Dragon's Head Cider Orchard and Mukai Farm and Garden are a five minute bike ride away. The island boasts great coffee shops, art galleries, wineries, cideries, and restaurants. Minglement Organic Grocer along with The Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie stand out as a community source for natural and organic foods, teas and house-roasted coffee. Vashon Thriftway is a terrific grocery store. and Dig Deep Gardens and Art is an artistic space to enjoy live music and drinks in an outdoor setting. "The journey is part of the experience--an expression of the seriousness of one's intent. One doesn't take the A train to Mecca." -- Anthony Bourdain

Last minute instant book Vashon win
It was our first experience on Vashon Island so we didn't know what to expect. We also booked last minute and arrived after dark so we were so glad that the camp was laid out as described. It was a really cool area and we were charmed by the howling coyotes and barred owl conversations nearby. I saw one review complaining about the planes overhead, but I have to note that the flight paths for SeaTac are shifted every couple hours so I have to say it was no big deal and we slept soundly. Phillip was a great host and told us about all the great nearby parks to explore. He's a well-traveled adventurer and even told us about a cool place in Mexico that I want to check out now. The communal kitchen tent is well provisioned with stove, pots, pans etc, so I wish I had brought my own coffee. If anything, I would say that the host's RV could be set up in a way that offers more privacy to campers, but it's early days at this camp.

While we didn’t get a chance to actually stay at Philip’s place, he rolled with our last minute changes and was communicative and kind. Will make it a point to try again!

Camp cooking is fun!
We loved Philip’s campsite. It’s like Glamping. It has a well equipped full camping kitchen, all sorts of cooking toys, a camping shower and a camp toilet! We would give 5 stars for the value! We sleeped in our Rivian and everything else we used Philips suppliers. Can see Philip attention to details and his love for camping! Would recommend if you want to spend more time in the island or want a camp cooking experience without purchasing all the gear! Thanks!!

Needs work, has potential
We have mixed feelings about this site. We stayed for one night out of a planned three night stay. Philip, the host was a very kind and welcoming host. The site itself has pros and cons. Pros: If you’re looking for a site that has options for you to make your own meals, this is a great spot. If you are a group, and rented out all three spots then this could be a great spot for you. Philip has created a large outdoor kitchen with all the cookware you could want! He has a great vision for this site and there is a lot of potential. The trails on the property were beautiful and we enjoyed our walk. Cons: We felt like this site was not ready for prime time. He was still working on some things, and it felt like a dress rehearsal. Which would have been ok, had we known that. It was not made clear that Philip lives in a trailer next to all of the camp sites, so there is ZERO privacy. The site is also under the SeaTac flight path, and planes flew overhead every 5 to 10 minutes. It was LOUD! Neither my partner nor I slept. My partner also stepped on a large piece of barb wire, thankfully she had shoes on and our dogs did not step on it. It should not have been open if it was still under construction. We believe there is potential at this site, but if you are booking please be aware of the noise and the lack of privacy.

Madrone Tree Classic Campsite
This is a great option - close to town but feels like you are tucked away in nature. Philip is such a welcoming host, offering anything and everything to make your stay more enjoyable and safe. He has set up a full kitchen with every appliance you could dream of while camping and you can tell he has a plethora of knowledge from his personal experiences in life! I would recommend this site for sure.

My friend and I had a great time staying one night on Soulful Journeys Island Hipcamp. It's a great location on the Vashon island, not too far from Seattle. We were very impressed by the amenities in the common area, and Philip’s hospitality. We're planning to return !
