Feel any stress or anxiety you might have escape you, as you make your way down into this little river valley. As you glance over to you're right, you see the constant flow of crystal clear water cutting its way through the forest. Continuing your descent into this sanctuary among the trees, your path opens up into a clearing surrounded by a stand of towering evergreens. This camp above the river serves as your perfect hideaway where you can rest and recharge. On this, a little over two acres of riverfront land, there is a circle drive that loops along the edge of a clearing, giving access to 3 unique sites. These sites are tucked away with a comfortable amount of wooded space between them. At the center of this loop, there is a shared space to enjoy if you choose. This can be a nice space to gather for a meal at the large picnic table or have a game in the grass. There is also a large firepit that can be inviting to stand around and enjoy each other's company. The river is what really makes this property special. You will have access to a private stretch of river, just steps away from the camp area. A short trail takes you down to a level landing just above the river with plenty of space to gather. A few more steps down and you can dip your feet in the cool water that has made its way down from the Olympic Mountains. Each site is equipped with its own parking spot, firepit, and level areas for a tent or two. Besides the river, there is no running water or other utilities. There is access to a portable restroom that is a short distance from the campsites. There is additional parking near the entrance if you have a second vehicle, or if you have a small camper trailer to leave at the site and need a place to park your vehicle. Another major benefit to this property is its general location. Stay and enjoy the camp to its fullest or use it as your home base and go explore the Olympic Peninsula. There are multiple hiking trails nearby in the Olympic National Park and nearby State Parks. You can also find yourself at multiple beaches that are only minutes away. If you enjoy a swim, there are also multiple lakes within minutes of the property. The small town of Quilcene is just a few minutes away and offers a couple little stores, a gas station, restaurants, a laundromat, post office, and a National Park Ranger Station. The historic town of Port Townsend is approximately 30 minutes away. You can also enjoy the incredibly beautiful drive down Highway 101 as it navigates along the edge of the Hood Canal.

Camp Site #2
Sounds of Silence & Little Creek
We had the tent site area all to ourselves and the sounds of the creek and the walk down to were all standouts for this romantic setting. Was able to hang our hammock and make a fire in the fire pit AND the porta potty just steps away, all pluses. We’ll be back to experience another season at this spot.

Beautiful camp site!
Had a great experience camping here! The campsites were well defined, very clean, easy to get to and Alan responded promptly to our inquiries. The Little Quilcene river is just a few yards away, The entire site is gorgeous, peaceful and quiet. We will definitely stay there again!

Camp Site #2
Magical - even in the rain!
This campsite is wonderful. The lushness of the moss-covered trees, the sound of the river next to it, the diversity of life -- it is a truly magical place. We saw all sorts of critters, from a lizard to frogs to various birds (an owl even came to visit and hang out about 15' from us!), and we spent time exploring the forest and soaking in the beauty (pun intended because it rained most of the time we were there). The entire campsite is very well maintained, and the individual sites are good sized, level, and immaculate. As other campers have mentioned, the toilet is also immaculate, which is a fabulous change from most places! I would note for future guests that the campsite is a bit wee, and the individual sites are pretty close to each other. Great for friends and families that like camping with each other (or for making new friends), but not great if you're into privacy. We reserved both sites, and I'm really happy we did since it was so peaceful and tranquil without strangers around. The road is also very close, but we hardly noticed it, and were surprised at how difficult the site is to see when we were driving away. Oh! I should also mention the owner was very friendly and extremely responsive. He obviously cares about the site and it shows in every interaction with him. I would absolutely stay there again, and I can't recommend it enough. It's a really magical place, rain or shine.

Camp Site #3
10/10 recommend
Little River Hideaway was a perfect spot for camping with my partner, nephews, and pup over a long weekend. Alan has put great care and effort into the design, construction, and maintenance of the sites. Tucked away among ferns and firs, exploring the stream was a highlight for all. While you have the wonderful restful feeling that you are far away from things, it’s only is a quick drive to Leland Lake and the Hood Canal for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming. And don’t forget to stop for tamales at Quilcene Village Store and ice cream at Peninsula Foods Store.

Camp Site #3
Not for trailers
First I would like to say the campsite is in an idyllic setting with ferns, vegetation and a creek. It would be perfect for tents or a camper van. We arrived with a small 12 foot trailer. We had a hard time going into the campsite as the gate posts were very close together. Once in and down the hill, we soon realized our trailer was too long for the campsite. When trying to leave the site, we were unable to pull our trailer back up the hill as it was too steep. Alan was great and came quickly with his 4 wheel drive and pulled the trailer up the hill. He then offered us a place across from the campsite to stay where our trailer would fit. All in all, I would recommend the campsite for a tent or camper van…just not a trailer.

Will visit soon
I had booked site #2 and had to cancel last minute due to a personal issue but the canceling process was so smooth. The host was very understanding and polite. Since it was literally day before kind of cancelation no money back but that was totally reasonable. But just based off my experience canceling I would book again based off how nice the host was.
