Fireweed meadow, just two minutes from lake Nahwatzel, is a post-timber sale restorative land project. It is close to the road but you will find refuge within the arms of the newly developed 7 ft tall hügelkulture garden. Edible berries can be found at all different times a year. In the surrounding area you will find many places to hike fish and play in streams. Fireweed is in its infancy and is very primitive, there are no amenities besides a security gate and a camper pad for an rv or van set up.A primitive yet accessible campsite carved out of an old timber sale, Hügel Hideout boasts a one minute drive to Lake Nahwatzel and a spectacular view for star gazing and wildlife observation. Nestled within a hügelkulture and wetland habitat, the campsite has an area to park and set up a tent or park an rv/camper. There is a fire pit you are welcome to use responsibly as long as there isn’t a fire ban. Verizon wireless users will enjoy up to two sometimes three bars of service.
Considerations:
Please be aware that this is a sensitive wildlife area under restoration. It is very raw and there are no amenities, just lots of wildlife!
Be advised that although the site is far from the road, it is the main road and there will be traffic noise at rush hours. The area is dead quiet at night.
There is a public restroom at the lake Nahwatzel boat launch.
The driveway is new and there is limited turn around space so it is best suited for smaller rigs and no more than two/three vehicles max.
