Tented glamping with en-suite facilities and hot tubs within walking distance of two sandy beaches

The charms of beachside Abersoch village on the Welsh Llŷn Peninsula are such that its population swells by a staggering 30 times in the busiest weeks of summer. If you’ve yet to pay this place a visit, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. Let us explain; sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets, starry night skies, a laid-back atmosphere and a healthy restaurant scene all within easy reach of Snowdonia National Park. Need we say more? All you need now is a place to stay that puts you in reach of the attractions but away from the crowds... all you need is NightSky Glamping.

This glamping-only site with five bell tents, seven safari tents and a herd of alpacas is a 30-minute walk, or a two-minute drive, from the village and its beach. The tented accommodation offers a new way to stay in an area that’s traditionally attracted the caravan and holiday cottage crew. NightSky falls somewhere between the two; with the self-catering facilities you’d expect from a cottage and the outdoor space of a campsite. Crucially though, it’s got glamping down to a T with a hot tub, a kitchen, a shower and a toilet at every tent. In fact, the six-person safari tents have two loos a piece.

Each tent also has its own decked area where, alongside that all-important hot tub, you’ll find a barbecue and chiminea. It’s the perfect place to watch the sun go down and to see what inspired site owners, Angie and Derek, to name their site NightSky. They’d probably also say it’s a place to escape what they fondly call the “midsummer madness” of Abersoch. They know it well, having only fairly recently made the move from being one of the many who visit to one of the few who stay. Greater champions of this area would be hard to find.

While Abersoch is the nearest village, just a mile-and-a-half away, there is another beach that’s even closer. Wilder (by both name and nature) Hell’s Mouth beach is good for blustery walks and surfing. And it’s not the only one, the Llŷn Peninsula is surrounded by glorious sandy beaches with a coastal path (and a handy bus service) linking the lot. You could fill your days here with walking, watersports and wildlife-watching but Llŷn is not called Snowdon’s Arm for nothing. All this coastal charm is also just 20 miles from the edge of Snowdonia National Park and the adventures that lie within.

Large Tents for 7, with Hot Tubs - 8f32
Travelled as a family of four (two young teenagers) and two dogs and really enjoyed our time at Night Sky. We had a hot water breakdown on Saturday evening (No fault of the team - it was a recently fitted new boiler) and they dropped everything to get the issue resolved, with the chap telling us when he arrived "don't worry we have at least one spare of everything for the Safari Tents and I won't leave until you are sorted!" It turned out to be a quick fix, but brilliant service all the same to ensure that we had a trouble-free stay. We will be back!!

Large Safari Tent (Capacity 8)
Loved the view out of the tent, it was so peaceful and quiet. The hot tub is a real bonus. Well equipped accommodation. We used the BBQ and chimenea, lovely to use in the evenings. The local beaches are stunning and the Sun Inn was a lovely pub to have pint & food was excellent (don’t forget to book a table). We had the pizza’s delivered to our tent the evening before we left on the Sunday, they were delish. All in all, a lovely family holiday

The hillside views from this glamping site are really beautiful. The site is a short drive to the bustling and characteristic town of Abersoch and an amazing stretch of white sandy beach and gently lapping waves of the sea. The beach has an array of watersports, ranging from options for beginners or something more adventurous for the more experienced. For those who prefer to relax, the scenery from the beach is stunning as it looks out to two nearby islands and the distant peaks of the Snowdonia National Park. The glamping tents are well equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay and the cosy log burner and outdoor chimnea are ideal for when early evening comes. The perfect spot to toast a marshmallow or two and do some stargazing! A lovely touch from the owners included a Stargazing for Beginners book to browse during your stay. The Alpacas we had for neighbours in the field next to us were a big hit with the kids and we enjoyed waking up and saying hello to them each morning! Lovely accommodating owners, beautiful views, an amazing location and a quiet glamping site with fantastic safari tents - we would definitely recommend!

We have just returned from a stay at Night Sky Glamping, and we have had a lovely time! My other half isn’t a fan of camping, I booked it without him knowing where we were going and safe to say it was a success! We also took two well-behaved dogs with us, a poodle and a German shepherd and they enjoyed it just as much as us. The tent itself there is plenty of room, clean, tidy and I love all the little touches they have thought about. Location wise, it’s brilliantly situated to be able to adventure around the various different beaches, a 10 minute drive from Abersoch itself and great views! There’s a nice local pub which is about a 25 minute walk, we went on the last evening for a pint and it was a lovely end to a great weekend. If you like to adventure and enjoy camping then get this booked you won’t regret it!! It even has a hot tub for extra relaxation!!

Please note we are a family and couple friendly site and only accept bookings for a maximum of 4 adults plus children unless agreed by prior arrangement. A mile away is the popular Sun Inn which serves lunchtime and evening food. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and there is a large outdoor seating area too. Elund's village store is 200 yards away from the site and stocks a wide variety for such a little shop. Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales and has become a very popular village seaside resort. Great beaches, internationally recognised sailing waters, pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. Abersoch is also home to many bars, restaurants, pubs and small coffee shops There are two beach cafes on Abersoch main beach as well as the popular Mickeys cafe at the far end of the beach. You can also sit on the beach people watching with fish and chips...delicious! Theres lots to do in the area. Come and meet the alpacas. Hire a paddle board, Kayak, dinghy, have sailing lessons on Abersoch main beach, walk the coastal path or climb the headland at Llanbedrog. Hop on the Llyn Coastal bus and get dropped off along the coastal path and walk back. Have Surf Lessons at Hells Mouth beach, wake boarding lessons in Abersoch or Pwllheli Harbour. Hire a bike including an electric bike. Go on a boat trip to see the seals and dolphins or have a fishing trip. Go go-karting or visit Surf Snowdonia. Go co-steering (jumping off a cliff into the sea and swim through caves). There are lots of things to do and there’s always the option of finding a sheltered spot and read a book or have a snooze! Further away there are lots to explore in the surrounding area.
Nearby attractions

Off site, the closest beach, Porth Neigwl or Hell’s Mouth, is just over a mile away and known for good surf. For a more sheltered beach, head in the other direction off site, for a couple of miles to reach Abersoch main beach. Sailing lessons, kayak and paddleboard hire are all available from Abersoch Sailing School (07917 525540). There’s also another sandy beach four miles up the road at Llanbedrog where you can also head out on walks through heath and woodland. The walk up Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd to the Tin Man sculpture is recommended for beautiful views over Cardigan Bay. The Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path is an easy route for walkers. Further afield, Pwllheli, the main town on the peninsula is about 8 miles away, Criccieth with its coastal castle is 16 miles away, Porthmadog is 21 miles away with the edge of Snowdonia National Park just beyond that.

Food and drink

There’s a local shop just 200 metres away which sells all the basics. The closest pub is The Sun Inn (01758 712660), just a mile away, which serves good food. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops in Abersoch village. For a sundowner overlooking the harbour, try Zinc Bar and Restaurant (01758 713433), for pizza there’s Crust Pizzeria (01758 712896) and for something a bit fancier, perhaps try The Dining Room (01758 740709). Further afield, a trip to the Ty Coch Inn (01758 720498) in Porthdinllaen is recommended – it’s the best beach bar in the world – according to some. Food is only served at lunchtime.
