Welcome to Bears Playground, a Wilderness Retreat! Named after the playful bears that once frequented this field on my 80-acre farm, this site offers a unique natural experience. Alongside running a small dairy goat farm, I care for 2 donkeys, 20 goats, and a few chickens. My passion lies in crafting goat cheeses, which I create from the morning's milk in the afternoon, during the season. Meet my furry companions: three friendly dogs including a Lab Terrier, a Blue heeler, and a Texas heeler. You're invited to stroll along the natural trails in the woods of our property with them. They love company and are always eager to greet new faces! Whether you visit the barn to see the animals up close or encounter them roaming freely around the farm, a warm welcome awaits you at Bears Playground.Bears Playground , a Wilderness Retreat is where in years past the baby bears would play in the field. A secluded site where the kids and dogs can play and yet a 30 minute drive can have you at a Virginia Tech football game, dancing at FLOYDFEST(July) , the Friday Night Jamboree, kayaking on the Little River, hiking the Buffalo Mountain Reserve, or driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. There is something for everyone around here. Come and find your adventure. I run a small dairy goat farm on 80 acres. I have 2 donkeys, 20 goats and a few chickens. You are welcome to come see the animals in the barn or you may see them walking all over the farm! The tent has a queen size bed and is carpeted on a platform. There are 2 Adirondack chairs on the deck for your sunset and sunrise viewings. The sky is very large here and the stars speak to you here

Tent
Laura is an absolute gem of a host! She was incredibly flexible and accommodating as our plans shifted throughout the day, making our stay seamless. The tent provided so much warmth and coziness on a cool night, and waking up to the beautiful scenery and farm animals was a treat. We had a lovely walk and chat with Laura before our departure, which made our experience even more special. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer—highly recommend booking for more than one night if you can!
