"Tye Cove" aka a diamond in the rough.
It's safe to say that when we purchased this land others had passed it by over and over. We found that odd and to our good fortune! We would ask ourselves "How is this available? It's amazing!" Looking back at the pictures however gives us a better sense of reality! Some would say we had on rose colored glasses. I think we were just blessed to have a vision of what could be and were apparently blind to what was - an overgrown jungle of poison ivy, multi floral roses (the sweet name for briar bushes), trash trees and weeds!! You couldn't begin to see the land let alone the river. I'm sure our friends and family thought we were crazy as they smiled and told us how wonderful it was while climbing over rocks and through weeds taller then them. Yet we feel in love right away. Weekend after weekend we set up a campsite and got to work. Over the years the love we originally felt has helped us create one of the most peaceful and fun treasures I ever could have imagined. Don't get me wrong, we will always keep creating here at Tye Cove but because it gives us so much pleasure.
Our 5 boys and 2 girls have grown up in the city but Tye Cove has given them nature. They have learned to fly fish, skeet shoot, star gaze, rock climb and build the perfect s'more. For my husband and I, this is our escape from the kids on some weekends and we love every second. There are limitless activities from outdoor adventures to listening to bands and having cider at a local brewery.
Welcome to Tye Cove. A private piece of heaven in Nelson County, Virginia.
