Swedish Lilac Campground offers a peaceful and well-maintained camping experience with a focus on cleanliness and friendly hosts. Campers consistently praise the clean facilities, including the bathrooms and showers, and the welcoming nature of hosts Fritz and Valerie. The location near a river and close to Lexington provides opportunities for both relaxation and exploration. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few comments mention the occasional noise from a nearby train, but overall, the campground is described as a serene escape.
We loved camping here! It had every amenity that we needed from very clean bathhouse to provided fire wood, water, electric and even a dump station! Beautiful Campground with a perfect little river running beside it. Fritz met us as we pulled in to make sure we liked our site and to see if there was anything we needed. His communication was excellent before we even arrived. We had 2 large dogs with us and loved exploring the area too!The only 2 negatives were no heat in the bathhouse and my husband wished the dump station was on the drivers side as we were leaving. He just backed up to it facing the other way and had no difficulty dumping then. We highly recommend this Hipcamp! Thank you Fritz! We had a very wonderful experience!
Simplicity and the host is very hospitable. Definitely will be going back. The location is great to spend a day in Lexington and day in Staunton. Breweries everywhere.
This was a beautiful place to stay! Booming was easy and the host was very friendly. We have AT&T and had no service, however the campground does have Wi-Fi that worked very well! There was only a few campers there, so it was quiet.
The campground is right along the river. We stayed in spot number 8 and could here the river from our campsite.
We chose this campground due to the proximity of it to a wedding we were attending, but would love to come back again. 100% recommend.
Our family of four spend three lovely nights here while exploring the area! Kids loved running around, playing ping pong, and throwing rocks in the creek. Excellent facilities and top notch service with firewood delivery and trash takeaway, plus the pumping station on site. We got to milk the goats too. Only thing that caught us by surprise was the train which runs very briefly at night (8/9ish) and in the morning. We have a 6 and 8 year old and it was only a minor and very quick annoyance. Would happily stay here many times over!
Beautiful spot to camp with very polite and kind hosts. Fritz even supplied me with firewood for the night. I will definitely return when I’m in the area.
