Beautiful Land
Absolutely loved my stay at The Sugar Shack! It was the perfect home away from home with every detail thoughtfully designed to maximize comfort and functionality. Marvin is a perfect host.
The location was ideal—peaceful and surrounded by nature, but close enough to amenities to grab anything we needed. I especially enjoyed the outdoor area; having morning coffee on the deck with scenic views was the perfect start to each day. Inside, the amenities were impressive for such a compact space. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless with a fantastic shower.
If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, I highly recommend this tiny home getaway. It’s a beautiful reminder that you don’t need a lot of space to feel at home. Can’t wait to return!

Peace & Solitude at Thornton Farm
Sewage Water Showers (Smell It)
The start up was rather weird when host addressed me in email as “buddy” (unsuitable) then Mr. (presumably awkward). We arrived right before dark to discover that the camp sites were too close to each other for comfort, although listing stated 125 acres of land or so. Fortunately we were the only campers. Our first attempt to set up was met with humongous mosquitos we have never ever seen before and I was born and raised close to the equator in tropical weather. We had to relocate.
Saturday morning around 5am woke to a long loud noise. Farming equipment.
We decided to shower on Saturday evening by sunset. Unfortunately it was disturbing to see slow flies in the bathroom which was filthy and absent of being cleaned on a regular basis. The light bulbs were all blown out in the small shower area so it was dark. Host did not offer any hints so as to attempt showering during daylight. The towel hangers were inside the tiny shower so nowhere to hang your dry clean towel. I had to ask my son to wait outside the bathroom door so that he could hand me my towel when I was done. When I turned on the shower there arose a very unpleasant smell. It was coming from the water running out of the shower. And it smelled like sewage water. It was so shocking that I ran out the bathroom naked and feeling very weird, unclean and incomplete.
We packed up and left at sunrise! In truth, as reviews focus on pleasing host rather than the TRUTH, I just cannot recommend this place.

Peace and Solitude
Marvin's property is absolutely amazing and he was a pleasureto talk to. You can tell he puts time and care into everything. Everything was well marked and the bathroom was clean. There was even a spot to rinse off our pup! 100/10 will definitely be returning!

Peace & Solitude at Thornton Farm
Marvin’s land was nice and cozy. Plenty of open space but the camp sites are tucked under the trees for plenty of shade.

Peace & Solitude at Thornton Farm
This was my first time tent camping to relax, and Marvin was a gracious host. It was quiet and I felt safe as a single traveler. He made sure I had what I needed and greeted me upon arrival. The sites are spacious and not on top of each other. I would definitely recommend a stay at Thornton Farm.
