In a remote valley, along the banks of Craig's Creek, just north of Roanoke VA, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from Craig Creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - no houses or roads in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.

Maple Knoll
A truly beautiful piece of land to spend 4 nights on. Ned was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The picnic table, fire pit, and string lights were a very nice touch. The campsite was extremely spacious, and even though there were other people camping on the property, it felt very much like our own private space. The creek and swimming hole area were so beautiful, we spent the first half of one of our days just stomping around the property. Also it is less than a ten minute drive from the trailheads of dragons tooth and mcaffees knob which was very convenient. Plus a lovely 30ish min drive through the mountains into Roanoke was easily doable. 10/10 recommend, thanks for sharing your space Ned!

Creekside Woods
Creekside Woods at Savage Farms was amazing. Drive to the site itself is a little rough, but I did it in a little 2-wheel drive car, so not inaccessible. Creek is amazing, with great views of the water and cliffs. Lots of trees, picnic table, firepit, and plenty of space. Ned was a great host, and the water and maple syrup were both delicious. Highly recommended.

Bell Tent at Cedar Grove
We had a lovely time camping at Ned's site! The tent was clean and comfortable, and was nestled in a valley between two beautiful mountains. We had a wonderful time exploring the property and the surrounding area. We didn't bring our dog, but we found ourselves remarking that she would have been easy to bring. We'd love to be back and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Great camping spot
Great camping spot! Ned and Alexis were great hosts - super responsive and friendly. We came with pups and it was ideal as you are situated some distance from the other two sites. Nice little creek nearby that you can swim in. site is close to hiking trails - we did the Dragonstooth Trail and loved it.

Maple Knoll
The perfect campsite
Ned and Alexis’ property was immaculately maintained with little homey touches such as hanging lights to really bring out the aesthetic of the campsite. The bathroom facilities were clean and well maintained and the groundskeeper was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. 100/10 highly recommend staying here if you plan to camp out.

Creekside Woods
Private depending on other campers
This was our second visit, overall it was great. It’s serene and secluded, Ned and the other hosts are all super friendly and their pups are sweet. We were definitely let down due to the noise level in the very early morning hours, there was a group on the hill and they chopped wood each morning at the crack of dawn. It was disappointing because we come to such a secluded place to enjoy waking up to the sounds of nature, not to wake up to the sounds of wood being chopped by people who either don’t understand or don’t care about camping etiquette. Wood can be chopped at any other point during the day. It is especially frustrating when there is also pre-chopped wood available by the hosts.
