In a remote valley just north of Roanoke VA, along the banks of Craig's Creek, the property includes mature hardwood forest, pasture, and an 1830s log cabin where we live. We love to share this special place with visitors, and have some basic amenities for campers. The campsites are at the edge of a large pasture and just a few steps from the creek and our big swimmin' hole. Totally secluded in a remote valley - barely a house in sight (but our cabin is a short walk through the woods if you need something), no cell service for most providers, but within a short drive of Roanoke and Blacksburg, and countless outdoor recreation opportunities.
Ned’s land offers a tranquil getaway, nestled amidst beautiful scenery with plenty of room for exploration and privacy. Campers appreciate the welcoming hosts, Ned and Alexis, who are responsive and accommodating. The creek nearby is a highlight, providing opportunities for swimming and enjoying nature. However, some reviews mention minor maintenance issues like trash, dog waste, and the state of picnic tables, as well as the cleanliness of porta-potties.
I loved camping on Ned’s land! He was super helpful with whatever we needed, but also gave us plenty of privacy to do our thing. It wasn’t mentioned in the cell service part of the instructions, but AT&T users will have service, or at least I did. His land is very nice and right next to an awesome creek. I liked the location of Walnut bottom a lot as it was like our own little corner surround by the trees on three sides.
Great place to stay!!
After coming off the trail it was a 10 min ride to Ned’s property. Ned met us when we pulled up and gave us the lay of the land.
Highly recommended stay!!!
Sweet site! The bell tent was very comfortable and there’s a great little fire pit. The location is excellent for hiking and it was easy enough to get to Salem/Roanoke for needs. We were a little closer to the road and to other sites/tenants than I realized at booking but I was still comfortable with it. Would stay again!
