This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Site 5 - Ridgetop meadow

Awesome spot with plenty of space

This was a gorgeous spot. It was massive- giving plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. It was far enough from other campers to feel plenty isolated. Definitely recommended- and this is perfectly positioned for us when we head West on Friday nights. We will absolutely be back! Spotting a hot air balloon in the early morning was a super fun sight to see!

Site 7 - Large remote tent site

My kid loved the horses and farm dogs. He spent the day just roaming and looking at animals. Second time at Sugarday. Great, large sites close to everything you need in Charlottesville. Hard to beat.

Site 3 - Tent / RV site

Quiet beauty

what a great place for solitude. All camp spots are great- we were the only one there so had the run of the place. My dog loved being a farm dog for a day. Owners dogs, horses and donkeys were all friendly. Sunset was also on point- if you want quiet and beauty this is your place!

Gorgeous Campsite!!

Gorgeous campsite on a farm. Second time staying and I’d continue to go again and again. The bathhouse is a short walk from site 4, but not too far! It’s always been clean.

Site 7 - Large remote tent site

Camping on the horse farm.

We enjoyed our stay on Bob's land. It was peaceful and seren. There is a quiet pond with weeping willows around the edge. There were these two goofy donkeys that wander around the property being mischievous. It was great to have some respite there after taking on the local hiking spots.
