This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property. The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Site 7 - Large remote tent site

Camping on the horse farm.

We enjoyed our stay on Bob's land. It was peaceful and seren. There is a quiet pond with weeping willows around the edge. There were these two goofy donkeys that wander around the property being mischievous. It was great to have some respite there after taking on the local hiking spots.

Love this place! My son has regular soccer games and tournaments in Charlottesville, We always take the time to go camping here when we have a chance!

Site 3 - Tent / RV site

Loved it!

We loved our time here, even through the storms that rolled through! The other campers were super friendly, my kids and dog loved the pond and all the “toys” that came with it, the free range donkey delighted my daughter and it was a gorgeous spot. We’re planning to go back!

Site 5 - Ridgetop meadow

Farm Visit

Bob's farm was just what we needed. We only were able to stay for one night but look forward too a return visit. There were lots of horses including one who seemed to be the patriarch. He was accompanied by 2 donkeys who the kids loved. The shower and facilities were adequate. The sites were very widely spaced and when we were at our site, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Next time we have a mountain bike race in the area, we will certainly plan on another visit to Bob's farm!

Site 6 - Remote tent site

This was such a beautiful farm! We stayed on site #6 which was tucked away in the woods. If you're looking for campsite views, this one is not really it, but it's very secluded and the forest noises are beautiful! We did hike up the hill in the morning to see the mountain view and drink our coffee which was nice. I'd go back and maybe stay at a different site for some sunset/sunrise views. It did rain A TON while we were there so the tree canopy kept us semi-dry!

Site 6 - Remote tent site

Beautiful farm! Even saw deer near our campsite. Site 6 is very quiet and remote. A nice bathroom for shower in the morning. We really enjoyed our stay.
