We have 7+ very private acres along the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, which has been in our family for over 50 years and where we currently live. You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Three night maximum permitted. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.Pitch your tent on a large 11x12’ platform only a few feet from the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Enjoy peace and quiet, great fishing, kayaking and tubing, or just playing in the river. Complete privacy while camping, with small extra fees for use of our outdoor shower, kayaks and tubes and/or a shuttle up river (information on site).

10/10 would recommend!

The site was very private and clean, we enjoyed the quiet of the river and insects at night! The hosts greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. We had a fabulous experience!

Mary and John are so great! They were welcoming and helpful while still giving us privacy. The campsite is great and the river is very clean and nice. Our dog loved playing in the river with Cooper, the resident doggo of the camp. The availability of a hot shower made it even better, we honestly wish we would have booked an additional night.

A beautiful place!!

My boyfriend and I loved camping at Mary and John’s site! It was an amazing location right on the river and they let us use their kayaks to explore. The water was crystal clear and my boyfriend even caught a small mouth bass! Such a relaxing and beautiful place and the wooden camp base was perfect for setting up our tent and having a good view of the river with plenty of privacy!

Special place with amazing hosts

Mary and John have an amazing property along the river. Hipcampers are truly fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy such a special place. The tent platform is really nice and convenient. My son and I had a great time fishing and exploring upstream. You couldn’t ask for better hosts than John and Mary. Communication was top notch. They are caring, generous, helpful and kind. They are willing to provide as much privacy or interaction as you want. They genuinely want you to have a wonderful experience. We look forward to returning and spending more time with Mary, John and Cooper.

We had a wonderful time at Mary and John’s place! They are both amazing people with a lovely dog! Beautiful views! Great site! Lovely River! The warm shower was a great touch 🙂. Mary and John are great communicators who took the time to answer all of our questions. We are new to camping and they gave us the confidence to keep trying. I look forward to returning.
