This campsite is located on the top right side of our mountain ridge, with a dirt road leading to a secluded opening in the woods with a meadow. It is currently full of wildflowers, fungi, cedar trees, wine berries, salamanders, and an abundance of forage-able plants. 4-wheel drive is recommended for the driveway leading up the hill, or you can park at the bottom and walk your things up. The meadow is pretty large and has multiple areas to set up camp. Since it is on the top/side of a hill, there is a slant, though some areas are flat enough to set up a tent.
There is a possibility of others camping in the woods behind you, though they would be out of sight and so far we havenât had any overlapping bookings. I stay in a cabin down by the bottom of the property and am happy to interact or give you your space.
The farm is a work in progress as we learn about permaculture principles and put them into practice, with the goal of getting to know the plants and soil and experimenting with natural building techniques to nourish the land as we grow our own food and nourish ourselves and our community.
You are welcome to explore the property and observe nature, the gardens, and the layout of the land. Please see our guidelines for experiencing this ecosystem in a way that does no harm to the land and preserves the moss and forest growth
Chickens, guineas, and cats (we often have kittens) are some of the residents you will meet around the farm. Wildlife such as deer, birds, salamanders, spring peepers, and honey bees call this place their home.
Nearby is the historic town of Singers Glen, which has one convenience store and offers sandwiches.
15 minutes from us is the George Washington national forest, with many hiking/outdoor opportunities to explore. Switzer lake is about 40 minutes from here, and down the road from it is riven rock river park, about 15-20 minute drive.
