Geodesic Dome
The site was far off the road, requiring you to drive a long ways across an unlit, unmarked, winding field without paths. The host sent a high speed video of how to find the site that was very hard to follow at night. Had it been muddy, my car would have gotten stuck in the field for sure. Was totally unprepared for any of that. Once we found the site, it smelled so badly of mold and we decided it wasn’t worth it to stay the night. Sucks because the host was communicative and friendly—really wish it had worked out differently.

Tent Camping with Vineyard views
The vineyard views are spectacular; the dark skies made it a great star gazing night; the fire ring had a grate on top for cooking on the fire; there were two nice chairs next to the fire ring; there was also a picnic table/bench a bit away; the bathroom was clean and had toilet paper, soap and paper towels; we never met the owner but he sent us clear instructions on how to get to the site and he was very responsive and helpful.

Great Spot to Acclimate New Campers
This is a great place to camp! I brought my three year old daughter, and it was the perfect place to acclimate her to camping. If you’re a resident of the DMV it’s an hour or so drive away making it a quick and convenient spot to camp if you’re looking to get away from the concrete jungle. If planning to camp in the colder months, bring sleeping bags or extra blankets for the bed. It was pleasant starting the wood burning stove in the morning when the temps outside were in the high 50’s F.
Highly recommended that your vehicle has 4x4. The entire property is easy to walk and explore. The bathrooms with running water are about a 5 minute walk from the Geodesic Dome.
We will definitely be going back!

Scenic but Incomplete Experience
We recently stayed at this vineyard campsite and left with mixed feelings. The views were breathtaking, with mountains, sunsets, and picturesque grapevines making it a unique experience. Its location, less than two hours from DC, made it a convenient weekend escape, and the restroom was impressively clean.
However, there were some significant downsides. The vineyard is currently closed, with no wine available, and the vines themselves are inaccessible, which was disappointing given that the listing didn’t clarify this. (Make sure to message the host before booking!) Barking dogs at night were a constant disturbance, likely due to nearby farms and the presence of coyotes, which we could hear throughout the night. Additionally, privacy between the two main campsites was lacking, and there was a shortage of toilet paper, which ran out quickly. The campsites by the vines also lacked shade, so I’d recommend bringing a cabana or umbrella for daytime coverage.
One strange encounter happened when another camper arrived on Sunday afternoon. The host was nowhere to be found, leaving the camper confused and without any direction. We ended up showing them to their site and explaining where the restrooms and firewood were. While we didn’t mind helping, it’s not something we should have had to handle.
Overall, the site has potential, but we’d only consider returning if the vineyard reopens and the experience improves.

Vineyard views at sunset
Privacy, space, and beautiful views of vineyard at sunset. Spacious restroom facility with antibacterial soap and paper towels. Wonderful host. We were able to buy a bottle of his Chardonnay and loved it! This is an operational farm so there are some farm noises but nothing disturbing to the experience or privacy. The host was welcoming and available when needed but not intrusive at all.
