17 acres, with 2 cleared, only 3 kms as the crow flies, from the coast. You can hear the surf in the evening. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports. The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge. The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors. PLEASE CHECK the description for further details about what is provided and to indicate if you are bringing your pet(s).Cosy and eclectic off-grid Eco Studio (small open plan) on 17 acres only 3 kms from the coast as the crow flies............. you can hear the surf in the quiet of the evening. Nearby are opportunities for many activities, such as cycling, paddling, surfing, fishing. Or don't go anywhere, and just sit outside enjoying the view in the peace and quiet. Wake up in the morning to symphony of bird calls, or listen to the snuffles and grunts of echidnas, wombats, possums and koalas in the evenings. When available, fresh produce from our organic home garden is available for sale. Cook on the outdoor kitchen with barbecue, gas stove and oven. Or stay indoors and use the microwave, kettle, toaster. Close enough to our home for security, but far enough for complete privacy for us all. Little slice of heaven 😊
We had two wonderful nights at Jo’s eco studio in Tarwin Lower. The studio has everything you need for a relaxing stay and location is close to Tarwin Lower and the beautiful beaches of Walkerville and Cape Liptrap. It is such a beautiful property. Russel has done an amazing job planting out natives and there is a wonderful walking trail through the bushland section of the property that has been reserved for wildlife. We saw so many birds and resident koala. Thanks so much for such a relaxing stay and the lovely home grown veggies and eggs.

Perfect weekend 🙂
Such a perfect weekend away. The warm, rustic and eclectic charm of the cabin was just what we were looking for. The property was so peaceful and we felt very at home enjoying the fire at night and listening to the cacophony of wildlife around us. Jo and her husband were so kind, helpful and easy going. We loved having a little tour of the garden and enjoying some of their fresh produce 💚 Would choose this stay over a fancy hotel any day! Hope to be back! Thankyou 🤗

Great cabin and great country town!
A very cosy cabin with great amenities! We didn’t have to bring anything with us just food and clothes like just a normal holiday but still had the experience of farm life and beautiful fresh air. Jo and Russ are very friendly people and always making sure we are comfortable staying in their property. The hot shower is a great bonus and I never felt so much happier tasting their fresh eggs and veggies from their site . :)

Great weekend break!
Beautiful studio in a lovely location. It was a wet and wild weekend when we stayed but the fireplace kept us warm and cosy the whole time. A great way to experience the off grid lifestyle, lots of cafes, pubs and sights to see within a short drive. Jo was super helpful and our dog loved it as well. Highly recommend.

A very special weekend away
Beautiful, quiet spot, off grid, dreamy little time awaits. Yes the cabin is a little basic -cooking beyond microwave is outside, there's no split system and the decor isn't super modern but it's incredible value for money, you still have amazing comfort and it feels so warm and homey. Lovely bed/pillows, a very hot shower, big beautiful windows with so much light, bringing the outside in and a very effective log burner that heats the place up instantly. Very welcoming hosts and a very sweet short walking track around the property. The sounds of nature and incredible starry sky was magic, very friendly local IGA, cafe and pub with great food and live music just a few minutes drive from the cabin. Feels like time stands still there,

Relaxing and comfortable stay
We loved staying in Jo’s studio. It was easy to find and Jo welcomed us when we arrived. The fire heated the whole studio, the bed was super comfortable and the shower was hot! We are earthy folk and we appreciated the eco-conscious design and being off grid. There was lots of info to ensure our stay was comfortable and we will be back again :)
