Historic, quintessential VT farmstead on 38 private acres at the end of a quiet dirt road. The Slate Valley Trails pass through our property - providing direct access to 50+miles of world-class mountain biking and hiking trails. We are located mid-point in the network at a perfect jumping off point for adventure. There are also miles and miles of quiet dirt roads and abandoned forest tracks in the area, offering near endless opportunities for gravel cycling adventures. The property features perennial gardens, a pond, open meadows, forestland, and picturesque southerly views from the top of the north meadow. The tent, van and glamping sites are thoughtfully located in protected nooks in the forestland and along the forest's edge. We have hot outdoor showers (3) and a handmade wooden building that houses our portable toilets. There is also a communal fire pit.

My group had a great experience at The Trailhouse at Slate Valley. The location was very convenient and the setting was perfect for our group. The toilets and showers were comfortable and clean, and there was plenty of space for everyone. I plan on staying here again in the future.

Amazing
Per usual, everything about staying at the trail house was great. Other guests there were friendly and respectful. This is THE best spot to stay if youre riding the amazing SVT system. You can access just about all of the network right from here

Hilltop Tent Site 4
Flop out of your tent, jump on your bike & hit 60 miles of beautiful, well marked single track through hardwood forests, golden rod fields, streams & more. Then bike back to base camp, get a great hot shower & drive 5 minutes to the Poultney Pub for a pint & some local bluegrass. Also had Hardy (the owner) diagnose & fix my brake issue at his fab bike shop in town (Porcupine Bikes.)

Perfect for Gravel Bikers Too!
We had a wonderful time. Gravel biking for me. Sherry hung out and walked our dogs - lots of quiet roads for dog walks. Great bathroom - very clean with nice rough cut boards for a camp feel. If you're a mountain or gravel biker this would be a perfect hipcamp. I highly recommend.

Beautiful property with a great set up. Cozy tents, the showers were great and the bathrooms were clean. Access to trails from my campsite was a huge plus as well.

An amazing base camp for Slate Valley mountain biking! Right on the trails. Gorgeous property, lovely hosts. Really nice shower situation and the outhouse style bathroom is just fine. Good to know: we were able to back in a 17” camping trailer but the space available for backing in is limited.
