It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We are close to Brattleboro, home to one of the best coops in the northeast, as well as many fun stores and an art museum. Please come visit us!Bring no sleeping bags; pack no coolers, this yurt has everything you need for easy glamping. You will sleep in a four poster bed and awaken to birdsong. Glamourous camping, nestled in a shady spot near babbling brooks, on a working farm. Cross the hanging bridge to visit the farm animals. Hike the trails, swim in the brook, walk the beautiful dirt roads around us. Please be aware there is no electricity.

Trollhaugen Farm, with farm events!
Like playing house in the woods!
We were very lucky to find an open booking at the yurt last minute while we were tent camping and trying to avoid a big storm. My three kids and I arrived late at night to the cozy yurt with fresh flowers and farm eggs. I hadn’t anticipated no electricity because I booked in a hurry but we were already well equipped w lanterns and headlamps from our own trip. It made for a sweet, cozy atmosphere and we ended up loving being totally unplugged. We did end up having to charge our phones at a nearby restaurant so I would recommend bringing your own battery pack. They offered an outlet at the barn but it was pouring so we enjoyed being unplugged and had no service anyway! The beds were very comfortable and we played games by lantern light and the kids loved walking the bridge during breaks in the rain. The kids got to learn about a composting toilet and marveled at How the hostswere able to provide us a hot shower via propane tank! We really got to appreciate the slowness of being off the grid. We spent one day in town in Brattleboro which was wonderful. The Trollhaugen farm is truly a gem and we are happy to have made some wonderful memories there!

Trollhaugen Farm, with farm events!
This stay was everything we were hoping for and more! Johanna & Brahman were excellent hosts, willing to accommodate us same day and still left us with farm fresh eggs for breakfast 😍 We absolutely loved the yurt, which provided the roof over our heads we were looking for during our rainy stay. It had everything we needed plus more and was very comfortable! We love Newfane, Brattleboro, and Keene, and this location was fabulous for exploring all three of those places!

Trollhaugen Farm, with farm events!
Kid friendly - close to town - cozy
This place was wonderful all around.. the yurt is very accessible yet cozy and feels remote. We had everything we needed and slept very well. Very kid friendly, being able to meet the animals and walk around the pasture was a bonus. We wished we could have stayed longer and would love to come back!

Trollhaugen Farm, with farm events!
We enjoyed our time here, and would definitely return. Lots to do, and plenty of space. Everything is there for you, so you don’t have to pack up everything to get away for the weekend it’s great! The host left plenty of clear instructions, and information for local places. Made sure everything was nice and homey, even included some of her own farm-raised eggs. After having read past reviews, I would suggest a few of them as I’m happy I listened. Definitely bring a large lantern, or other light sources. There is plenty offered, but as there is no power, you may need more light when cooking or whatever at night. Definitely download the maps around the area, cell service is next to non- existent, which albeit was the goal here…but sometimes it’s easier for some instances. I would definitely recommend.

Hidden Gem Camp Spot!
Johanna and Brahman have a lovely offering for wanderers wanting to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature! Trollhaugen Farm’s yurt is the perfect spot to unwind and recenter! Completely off-grid, this space has everything needed to enjoy yourself, whether it’s for one night or many. Four-poster bed to sink into and view the night sky. Comfortable futon that opens into additional sleeping space. Kitchen and bathroom with all the amenities. Oil lamp and candles to light the night. Take a walk out into the meadow to catch the fireflies in action when it’s darkest outside! In the morning, cross over the suspension bridge to the farm to see the ducks and geese and chickens…..maybe even catch sight of the sheep.
