This Outpost and campground is located on 300 acres of private property surrounded by park and public land. It has been here for over 30 years in some form or another. We are Caleb & Amber who enjoyed managing this little oasis in the middle of the desert from March to June of 2017 when we decided to purchase the business & make it our own. This is a dry, rugged campground with a bathhouse that provides coin operated showers and flush toilets. In addition there is little old rustic camp store placed in the middle of nowhere where we provide fuel, snacks, firewood, ice, showers, cold drinks & more. If you are looking for a more private site with lots of space and shade, book our Small Group at the Rocks. For a warmer stay during the cooler months book one of our Glamping Tents listed. We have the larger, and spacious tent in the grove of the Juniper Trees (which is also amazing in the warmer season) and rent a heater from us inside the general/camp store. BE SURE TO GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO CHECK IN NO LATER THAN 5PM. THANK YOU!! DON'T FORGET TO TAKE A SCREEN SHOT OF THE DIRECTIONS HERE, YOU WILL LOSE SERVICE ON YOUR WAY.

Tipi at the Rocks
I booked the tipi at 5:30pm only to find out later you cannot check in after 5:00pm. Once I did find out I called the host numerous times without an answer. Also, it wasn’t clear that there was no bedding available. So after driving 1.5 hours to get there I still didn’t have a place to stay. I messaged the host asking for a refund since there was no expense on their part but never did receive a response and I was charged anyway.

Very remote & quiet spot, close to park entrance. Great place to climb around on rocks!

Remote
The location was just way too remote for my road trip across the country. It’s about 60 minutes driving, off the main roads to get there…and about 90 minutes to get to Moab, gas stations, and other signs of life. A bit overpriced in my opinion as well seeing that its just another campground, no lakes or bodies of water close by to the site, and there were soooooo many other free and inexpensive camping sites all over that area of Utah that were just as nice, if not nicer. While it is a beautiful location, it was expressed to me by the host that the red rock amplifies sound. I didn’t understand the gravity of that until I camped at another campground (instead of this one) that night, closer to Moab. You could hear a mouse fart at night. Just something to be aware of when coming out this way- bring earplugs.

View of the Needles Campsites (RV)
We received a wonderfully warm welcome at the Needle Outpost. We were given plenty of information before heading to the campsite to ensure everything went smoothly. Once we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional, and the site was stunning—a truly pleasant surprise. We couldn’t have asked for better. There were rocks to climb, breathtaking sunsets, and a peaceful silence after the noisy neighbors left. But that, unfortunately, was only on our last night

Camping with view
The view was unbelievable and worth the drive. Bathrooms need improvements but wasn't horrible . The store is great and you can rent things you might have forgotten. This is a passion project for them and it shows. So friendly!

Rough Going
This place is very rough, and very very hot most of the year. You need to be ready.
