Steep Mountain Farm is a community centered, ecological, regenerative agriculture project located on the indigenous lands of the northwestern band of the Shoshone people. Our primary mission is to build healthy soils, increase biodiversity, conserve resources and build community while producing nutrient dense food, promoting education and experiences. We raise fruits, vegetables and animals on the 16 acre property as part of our sustaining adventure. There are many outdoor recreation opportunities locally. We hope visitors appreciate and enjoy the surroundings while supporting our mission.Park or set up your tent in a shady spot featuring spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Our farm has all the benefits of a rural valley and the amenities of a university town 9 miles away. Enjoy strolling around visiting our goats, sheep, turkeys and chickens! In depth tours are available too for those that want to get to know the animals or learn about ecological farming. The camping spots are central in the lawn near trees and may have other guests and farm helpers roaming around. There are great trails to hike, bike or climb nearby, and rivers and reservoirs too if you want to cool off on a hot day. We have seasonal vegetables and eggs available for purchase too!

For the LOVE of goats!!
Tent · With kids
Tara and Nate were very nice. Nate went out of our way to make our stay memorable by letting us feed the chickens and turkeys and goats! My kids both ages 14 & 8 had a great time. My favorite was the goats they were so cute! It was a very nice grassy and shady spot and my son loved just playing outside. The Porta potty was clean and didn't smell bad like most portable potties do. Everyone we ran into were very friendly and I felt safe and welcome. Yes there was some highway noise like others have stated, but it really wasn't bad maybe even a bit soothing. It's literally 2 min. away from Litrle Bear Bottoms farm which was a fun little place for us to spend the day. I miss the goats already! Even the one we nicknamed "bullygoat"

Not to be missed!
20 ft pop-up camper · With kids
Ten days on the road through six states with many incredible vistas, landscapes and camp amenities, and of all of them my family and I loved Tara and Nate’s farm the best. This place exudes peace and calm. Don’t miss out on the farm tour, meeting the animals, or the option of buying whatever they have that is freshest at the moment. We fell in love, and very much hope to return.

YES YES YES!

THIS WAS AN AMAZING STAY! Tara was so kind and welcoming. We got in a bit late, but nonetheless, she came out and said hi and made sure we got there safely. In the morning, we had a farm tour, and her property is gorgeous. She is definitely a contact for the future for possibly working out there for me personally. I reccommend ANYONE on Hipcamp who likes beautiful farms, animals, and a warm welcome to stay. One note, they're close to the highway so you get some highway noise from where you're at, but it wasn't too bad :)
