. Twisted Oaks is located on 20 acres of tree lined Texas Hill Country nestled in the heart of San Marcos. .f seeing a tractor while you are hiking around offends you somehow this may not be a good choice. I have taken a lot of care and pride in my work on twisted oa
We have 10-15 campsites all named after the colors in a rainbow. We now offer 1 free bundle of firewood per paid booking, Please understand we can not have campfires during a burn ban. Mention this offer when you request to book, We offer rentals of kayaks, oleman camp stoves, triple burner propane very large, mr buddy propane heaters or a tent if this your first time. payment for extras can be cash or Venmo. If you have any special needs please feel free to contact me. thanks and hope to see you soon. to reduce impact on our property we limit the vehicles to 1 per site any extra vehicle is $5 smalls $7 trucks. This fee is used to do mulching and road repairs to keep things smooth. If you decide to change dates there will be a $25- $50 fee based on your total booking
We sell seasoned oak and juniper hardwood. We are a small microbusiness and would really appreciate if you purchase wood here rather than at a large box store. It is your choice but just so you know you will get twice the wood for maybe half the price. We sell a large wheelbarrow load for $20 or half load for $10. Kindling is gratis.
Please check the weather forecast before booking. Texas weather can change on a dime. Also if it is raining in Austin or San Antonio it may be bone dry here. We can not be responsible for the weather or your selection of gear. I prefer winter camping with a nice fire and a cup of coffee. We have invested in clothing and gear to withstand below freezing temps.
When campers book we go through a routine to make sure all sites are ready for YOU. There are times were we have had to change or modify our plans to accommodate our "guests" . Changing dates will incur a small fee. Please be fair. Our cancellation policy is strict and it it set as such to protect campers and host alike.
We set a high standard for our camp but this is to ensure that all campers will have a great experience. Pay attention to the rules. Using common sense is what we ask. Treat our property as you would have us treat your place...it's really that simple. Hope this does not scare you away. Read the reviews and you will see the common thread is that we are nice helpful folks. See you soon!
We had such a great stay! John was extremely helpful during our time on this beautiful property, and so were his two sweet dogs who came to say hello! Such a peaceful and quiet spot to spend a long weekend at. Highly recommend staying here! Thank you so much John!
Camping on John’s land was nice and convenient for what we were doing in San Marcos. We enjoyed the disc golf baskets, accessible firewood on site, and “kitchen” area at the site
Went during the crispy end of summer and even though it was too hot for October it was a great campsite. Easy to find and navigate to the site. Beautiful views of the stars!
John’s Hipcamp is awesome! I solo camped there for a day and a half and enjoyed the serenity of the Texas Hill Country with rugged nature as far as the eye can see and the stars at night really are big and bright. The vibe is chill and hospitable where you can relax and enjoy nature in peace.
John and the twisted are just one of these persons and places you hope to encounter at a certain point in your life. My partner and I sincerely enjoyed our short stay in the cosy 1968 airstream. The property is loaded with tranquility, good energy and creative pieces for art. Really the only thing we regret was to not be able to stay longer! John is an incredible hospitable, warm-hearted person who carries these human subtilities hard to find these days. We really enjoyed spending some time with him, sharing a lunch on the grill and great conversations! See you soon again brother
This camp spot is amazing and the host is just as awesome. Would definitely recommend and plan on coming back. Very chill and peaceful as advertised.
