River Forest Haven is a unique space that seeks to bring you closer to nature. We do not artificially light the camp and we strive to leave as much of the property in its natural state as we can. This provides a unique experience that is not your typical campground as we keep all of our campsites tucked under lush natural canopies. Car and tent camping works great! For most sites, you can easily drive up to your spot. Arrive, take a look around and settle into your site. We are always happy to deliver any of our items from our general store- just message us on HipCamp and we will come by. With nearly half a mile of Colorado riverfront to swim, fish, toob, paddle-board, kayak, and canoe*, along with 30 acres to hike and explore, River Forest Haven is also a quick 20-minute drive from downtown Austin. THINGS OF NOTE: ⁃ cell phone service is mostly non-existent ⁃ firewood can be brought or bought, but not collected.

GREAT TRIP
The staff was very on top of their game. Had an any hill and in 30 mins ant spray no ants. The doc was a little too high (60 years old) so i went close to the bank to get up on dock. Run a camping group sites 6,4,7 were great. Will come back

Absolutely fantastic experience. We had campsite 9 (which included campsite 8) We didn’t know they combined the two areas and it was nice surprise. Very big area with a little dock. Lots of trees, not too busy. The host was very responsive when we needed something. The showers were clean. There were multiple port a potties but we brought our own . There is poison ivy so if you have little ones who are hard to keep from wandering you might have an issue, but this wasn’t the case for us.

The campsite was beautiful and the staff was amazing, I didn’t end up staying because my kids got spooked but I’d definitely go back when they’re older.

Took a tent out for two nights and it was great. Easy access to the water for tubing. Very pretty spot on the river.

The campsites were spaced very well. It felt like you couldn't hear or see your neighbors, which was lovely! The roads are a tiny bit rugged which is great because it feels like you are out in nature and away from the city! The check in instructions were accurate & the onsite person's response was quick & friendly! The land is right up against the Colorado river, which would be lovely if there were actual well manned access points into the water. Pebble beach was a 8 foot opening into the water that felt more like a boat launch spot. It was absolutely not a beach. The other water access area had a little more space water side BUT the entrance into the water was a small, muddy walk into marsh. Neither allowed for enjoying the water as we hoped. We did get to use a canoe and enjoy the river that way! It seems well designed for fishing, canoeing & kayaking more so than hanging out water side and swimming, which we were hoping for.
