We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping. We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.  Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. For more information, feel free to take a look at our page on the San Antonio Conservation Society's website https://farmandranch.omeka.net/exhibits/show/blasherreraranch We use Hipcamp to help maintain, preserve, and restore the land my family loves so deeply. We're excited to share it with you and see what all we'll be able to do. Thank you in advance for your support! Old Herrera Ranch - Medina River
Refreshing Medina River
Dax was very responsive and accommodating. He let me hook up to electric so that I could have A/C in my camper. It was a short walk down to the Medina River, which was very refreshing and flowing nicely (about 2.5-3 ft. deep). The old dance hall had a string of lights you could turn on at night, with a game of corn hole set up. A hiking trail would be a nice addition.

Family Friendly Place!
We had a blast out here and the owner was very accommodating and helpful. Always replied quickly for any questions we may have had. We will definitely be coming back to stay again. The river level was perfect in the area to teach my kiddos to swim and they had a absolute blast and picked it up very quickly.

Fantastic place to explore.
I love this place. We were the only ones there and had a blast. There was so much to explore. The river was great shallow enough for the four year old and dug but deep enough to swim in other parts. Can't wait to go back. This is my new go to place.

Magif
This place is short from magical! we have the pleasure of having it all to ourselves due to how things panned out with the schedule and we have never had the peace like we had here! Highly recommend looking up the history of the place and taking a walk to the river every morning. The flowers and butterflies are abundant and you’ll find something new everytime.
