We purchased the property as a forest back in 2007. We cut down a little bit of the forest to build our house. Some of the forest burned down in the great Bastrop wildfire in 2011, but it has grown back. Native Americans once lived here. Sometimes you can find arrowheads. Learn more about this land: Lost Pines camping is located on a gravel dead-end road. We are in a pine forest and have a two-acre lake on the property that is good for swimming. Bastrop and Buescher State Parks are nearby and easy to access through back roads. Blackberries can be picked for a month or so in springtime. The land is a bit hilly. Downtown Bastrop and Downtown Smithville are both a ten-minute drive away. There are 1 RV site and 1 tent site. The tent site is a hike into the forest. The other is alongside the parking area.A short walk through the forest down hill from the parking spot. There is little to no shade at this spot until the sun gets low in the west. The tent site has no electricity or water but both are a short walk through the woods. There is an electric outlet next to where you park for that site and a water spigot between the campsite and your parking area. The bathroom is a 1 minute walk from the tent site and 2 minutes from the parking spot.

Quiet Oasis
This little hidden gem in Smithville, TX is worth shouting about. The owner, Craig, is a great host. He has put together a really nice place for folks to either stop and camp? Or stopover, sleep, and get moving again. We were the latter. However, no matter how short our stay, we were still impressed by the warmth of our greeting, the hospitality offered, and the pretty spot we found ourselves in. Do not miss it!

Craig’s space is in a convenient location to the highway, Bastrop, and both state parks in the area.
