This is for only the hardiest of adventure campers. The area is arid grassland of west Texas near the Davis Mountains just off US 90 and set almost halfway between Van Horn and Valentine.
This wide, dry ranch land valley between rugged desert mountains has quite a bit of wildlife such as, pronghorns, antelope, mule deer, jackrabbits, kangaroo rats, scaled quail, javelinas, coyotes, desert reptiles, spiders and many bird species unique to the area.
The sandy, hard clayed land is dotted by dwarf mesquite trees, prickly pear, yucca and juniper.
Beware of free ranging cattle (at least one brahma bull) and potentially dangerous wildlife such as: rattlesnakes, coyotes and tarantulas.
